Peterson fetches at minimum a first and second. I guarantee GM's value him a lot higher than this forum does. He's twice the player Harvin is and he got us a 1st and 3rd.

Who gives this up? Who has the money to? Is it even worth it to the Vikings? You give up arguably one of the best RB in the history of the NFL and an extremely likeable and popular guy and get a pick at the end of the first and third rounds.

The NFL has so much parity that you can win 3 games one year, 10 the next and fall off the year after. Peterson is still in his prime, keep him and keep building. There's no reason to think that this team couldn't contend soon. Hell, they made the playoffs last sesaon.

Its bad from a money standpoint. Right now Peterson is the only reason to buy tickets.

That was the theory when Moss was traded, however, MN didnt have much issue selling out games and they eventually drafted Peterson. Interest may dip, but you also have to remember, the next two seasons, the Vikes will be playing in a smaller stadium (Gophers stadium), and they will eventually play in the new stadium. The new stadium itself will draw a lot of fans the first few years anyway. it would actually be good timing to unload Peterson if youre concerned with ticket sales.

Except Minnesota did have trouble selling tickets, I remember games almost being blacked out except local buisnesses(I believe that's who it was, having trouble remembering) bought them. I also remember the deadline for selling out games was pushed back atleast for 2 games.

Who would have thought someone would give up what they did for Harvin?

I'm arguing his value. Not whether we should trade him.

Harvin is younger and not a running back. Peterson might fetch a similar return but it wouldn't be more.

Wr's are dime a dozen. Peterson is an elite talent that the NFL may not see for another 10 years.

Harvin isn't a dime a dozen, and if history tells us anything Peterson may only have a year or two left at a high level.

Apparently the main team that the rumour surrounds is the cowboys... with our cap I don't know how that is possible, but with how crazy JJ is.. it could be and I would not be surprised if you guys liked the return if it happened.

I am honestly getting sick of how they are not even bothering to use AD anymore. If they are going to keep this up, might as well trade him and hang onto Toby. It would be much cheaper for that kind of use and they can rebuild a little quicker. I hate even thinking about it, but I also hate to see such an amazing talent wasting away like this.

Hard to use AP when we are constantly playing from behind, can't run block, or stay on the field/get our defense off the field.

Given our time of possession, Adrian Peterson's carries are right on their average, or close to it.

The Giants game was inexcusable, however. That game was well within reach when they gave up on using him. I know what you are saying, but I feel that they give up on using him too early.

EXACTLY!! This is what I have said in other threads. We could literally be down by 1 point and this staff always thinks they need to force the throws instead of grinding it with AP. They give up on him wayyy to early when we are down. He can literally win games by himself and I feel our coaches continue to ignore that sometimes

Which is why I can't wait for the entire coaching staff to be gone. They have such a special player to use and they haven't been, even when they should be.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 2m
More on #Vikings: @MikeSilver & I report despite Adrian Petersons musings, Vikes wont trade him. They want him to open their new stadium
