Mathis' 9.5 sacks is a record for most sacks in the first 5 weeks of the season. Back in 1998 Kevin Greene had 10 sacks in the first 5 games but had a bye week during week 5 so he didn't get his record until week 6

yet his name has yet to be mentioned by a single person who isnt a Colts fan.

QFT
Robert Mathis. There. Laughing

Thanks Very Happy

With his sack today against Tennessee and Robert Quinn not registering any sacks, Mathis extended his league lead to 2.5 sacks with 4 games left to play.

Like Stallyns mentioned earlier in a different thread, with 15.5 sacks, Mathis is a half-sack away from tying to the Colts single-season Sack record (16) set by Dwight Freeney in 2004.

It's far fetched, but he is only 7 sacks away from tying the NFL single-season record as well. Not saying it's gonna happen, but hey, a few multi-sack games and you never know Twisted Evil

Would really love to see him hit at least 20 sacks this year though. Think that would really make his case for DPOY.

actually that wasn't the record I was referring to. I meant Freeney 107.5 sacks as a Colts, Mathis 107

But I'll take that too Laughing

Haha whoops, guess the comprehension was a bit lacking.

But that's interesting, with one more sack he could set both records. Kinda cool.
