As you boys know, we are going to have a ridiculous amount of cash next year. But with this great amount of cash, comes a great number of players contracts expiring. These are the notables who are FAs after this year. As you can see, Reggie is going to have his work cut out for him.

Phillip Adams
Khalif Barnes
Jacoby Ford
Andre Gurode
Lamarr Houston
Jason Hunter
Mike Jenkins
Rashad Jennings
Darren McFadden
Jamize Olawale
Tony Pashos
Tracy Porter
Brandian Ross
Brian Sanford
Pat Sims
Jeremy Stewart
Jared Veldheer
Vance Walker
Charles Woodson
Usama Young

Who would you resign as of now?

Threads like this are a little difficult b/c we don't know what will happen or the game plan for the draft but just off of a performance based thought:

Houston should be signed to a very long term contract yesterday
Sims should be signed to a mediocre long term contract
Vance Walker to a back-up contract for a couple years. He's not a start but he'd be great depth IMO
Pashos should get a contract as he is a good back-up
Veldheer should get one but how much is based on what he does the rest of the year. I hope this injury doesn't linger. That would be awful. Kid is looking like the real deal and then this happens.
Ross should get a nice back-up contract (like someone else said, shopping Branch wouldn't be a bad idea)
Woodson could get another year or two if it's not too expensive. He's playing well now but let's not act like he's in his mid-30's anymore.
Jennings and Jenkins could get back-ups.

The rest I'm indifferent about. None are starters but I guess could be good depth. This is the portion where it gets really difficult. If we give them chump contracts, I'm fine w/ that, they are easily replaceable but they've been here. know the coaching, know the players, and know the scheme so I'd like to keep as many of those guys around but when we start really making a move, it's time to get solid depth also.

So pay all the current starters as backups..... that's the plan?

Does that mean new starters will be needed at every position you just paid backup money too? Or are you expecting these players to start for backup salaries?

So you want to overpay for players? Yes, some people here are starters but backups on other teams. I'm not for overpaying players. They can take that money and play or go somewhere else.

Would bring back as starters on good deals
C Woodson
P Sims
J Valdheer
L Houston
M Jenkins
Long term deals for Houston and Valdheer

Would bring these guys back but as depth and low figures
Jennings
T Porter
J Olawale
B Ross
V Walker
U Young

Would bring back these guys to compete for a spot and provide depth
Khalif Barnes
Andre Gurode
Jason Hunter
Tony Pashos
Brian Sanford
Jeremy Stewart
P Adams

Still don't know about McFadden. Goodbye Jacoby

Keep as many as we can on defense. We still need to draft a DE,DT.

Way I see 2014 roster
Most of the 53 man roster will be back
Except maybe McFadden J Ford
Figure the 7 man ps will compete
60 men competing
Add 10 more draft picks competing
70 and 10 more UDFAs
80 people
With 10 more FAs being signed
That will be 90 hungry players competing for a roster spot

QB
Pryor McGloin

RB
???? Jennings Murray Stewart

FB
Reece Olewale

TE
Kasa Ausberry Mastrud Rivera ???

T
Valdheer Watsons Mccants Barnes Pashos

G
Bergstorm ??? Nix Mady (yikes) ??? ???

C
Wiz Guroade

DE
Houston ??? Stanford Robinson ????

DT
Sims ??? Walker Muir McGee

OLB
Burnett Moore Mavaeia Wilson

MLB
Roach Burris

CB
Hayden Jenkins Porter Adams Chekwa Jones
S
Branch Woodson Ross Young
Specialist
King Condo Jano

Add some picks using that cap space maybe a gem in Udfa man that's a deep team. Hope we can add some skill players at we and RB and some guards and DE and a force at DT. Would want walker back but as a super sub off the bench to have a rich rotation
