Just wondering how has our former 1st round pick has looked so far this year? Its hard for me to watch Seattle games since I live in Wisconsin. But just wondering what your guys thoughts on him.
Well, the Hawks weakness seems to be the O-line, but both Carpenter (1st round pick) and Moffitt (traded 3rd rounder) both seem to have been burn outs. The top of that draft was pure busts (Luckily Sherman was stolen with a 5th rounder to save that draft). From various interviews at the time it sounded like Cable had a big role in picking which O-linemen the Hawks would go with, which would make sense with his role as the O-line coach (and assistant coach).
Hopefully next year he won't be let anywhere near the draft room and they'll address the O-line again with someone that can actually assess skill. Maybe Cable can teach players, but he sure can't seem to pick 'em. The only good linemen we have both preceded his existence on the coaching staff, and the Carpenter draft was an enormous investment in the line, with basically 0 to show for it.
