After a good win, the first of the season, feelings and high and optimism reigns, so I thought I might try to bring things down a little bit. Wink The performance on the weekend was far from perfect the offense had issues, the defense had issues. But what stood out as the worst action or the worst player of the game?

The nominees

Patrick Peterson - When you are in man coverage on Calvin Johnson you do not take your eyes off of him. That is exactly what Peterson did. On a simple slant pattern, Peterson stopped mid-play, he took his eyes off his man and Johnson was able to roll 72 yards for a Touchdown. He also had a wide open lane on a return but decided to cut it back for no reason.

Carson Palmer - Pick 6. Drifting backwards, under pressure vs a zone defense. Palmer throws off his backfoot to a well covered TE and the result was DeAndre Levy ending up in the endzone. Palmer also missed this play. Deciding to throw to a double covered Floyd over a wide open Ellington. This drive was one of many that stalled in the redzone due to offensive ineffectiveness.

The offensive line - They did not have a great day. Pressure was consistent in the passing game, penetration was consistent in the running game.

Winston beaten off the edge and Colledge beaten up the middle. Brown not doing too well either.

Fanaika beaten soundly up the middle, pressure on Palmer.

Pressure on Palmer on the Pick 6 with a wide open Fitzgerald over the middle if he had time to make the throw.

In a week where not a lot of plays were blown this category is not very populated. I suppose that is a good thing. So who you got?

I voted for Palmer, I thought that INT was the nail in the coffin. Nightmare of a play

I voted Peterson for worst play/player. He just completely lost focus. With Palmer their was legitimate pressure in his face and an obvious disconnect between him and Dray. And for what he brought us on offense, I really hoped Peterson would have put in a better performance than he did. He was poor. Not average or below average but poor.

So he is human?

I think he had too much on his plate on Sunday

Punts, coverage, throwing, catching

He was involved in like 10 plays total in terms of punts and offense. That's not that much at all. He's a DB first and he didn't do his main job very well.

Unfortunately, Peterson has to get my vote. That long touchdown to Johnson was a killer.

I have another Peterson screenshot here;

Black line is where Peterson went. Look at all the space where the Red Line is.
