There is another opportunity to see if the Calvin Johnson rule only applies to Calvin Johnson in the Jets Patriots game right now.
Edit: Looks like it applies to Jets' players too. _________________

Kenbrell Thompkins catch?
I don't agree though, as it was a different situation. To me, Calvin caught the ball and had two feet in before crossing the goal line. He stretches his arms forward (a "football move") to try to break the plane, then breaks the plane. In my mind, the play should be over at that point and the Lions should be putting six points on the board, but I guess not.
With Thompkins, he was diving after a ball that was in the end zone, got his hands on either side of it (not under it) and fell on top of it, using the ground to trap it. He had no feet in and made no football move. Simple no-catch call for me. Johnson's was a little more nuanced. |
