If our best 3rd corner is still McCain then any team that spreads us out wide is going to wreck us. Eddie Royal dropping that pass was huge.

I was wondering who 21 was. Royal abused him so hard. If Dowell Loggains knows what's good for him, he'll get Kendall Wright matched up against him early and often.

No Sad

I don't want to jinx anything, but I was surprised with Shiloh's play. I'm not saying he's a pro-bowler or anything, but he wasn't a liability last night.

Im not worried about McCain against Kendall Wright. Wright hasnt been anything special, and McCain has the Titans number. Laughing

BTW, did anyone hear from Brooks Reed last night? I didnt hear not one thing about him when we was on defense. Maybe I missed something, but he was fairly silent against the Chargers. We are already thin at OLB and we really need Reed to step up opposite Mercilus this season or OLB might be another big need for us.

You heard from Brooks Reed when the Chargers' RB ran past him for their 1st TD

Will kill last two post with one swipe. Reed gave up the TD on the 2nd play of the game, but reality is that the RB is Keo's responsibility yet he was nowhere close to assist. I wouldn't expect a ton of pass rush out of Reed from the SLB spot as he's got to take care of run and coverage responsibilities with Mercilus basically rushing the passer on every play like Mario used to. At least initially, Reed's going to be more like Barwin last year. We held Matthews to 33 yards on 13 carries which is why they couldn't just rely on the run game to burn out the clock in the 4th.

Keo's contributions are vastly overrated in my book. We always knew he was a good special teamer and could hit. Problem is he's playing a position where his primary job is helping out on coverage and he was largely M.I.A. Granted, it could have been much worse, but it's not like that was Rice/Taylor/Jones/Craig & Montana we were going up against.

On Reed, after that first TD, he played well.

DJ got outclassed, not sure if he is good enough to be our savior vs tes or rbs this early in his career, he has a LONG ways to go.

Our run defense played great, like always, and our corners were up and down. (McCain was terrible). We literally would be unstoppable if we could figure out how to stop TEs and Rbs in the pass game.

Well, most of knew we weren't going to hit the ground running. We had way to many guys miss big portions of the pre-season/training camp.

QB I was one of the Schaub doubters, but he proved to me last night that we can win with him, especially with all the weapons he has. A-

RB/FB Kub would be an idiot if he didn't run tate atleast 70/30 with Foster. He's in a contract year and is looking for his big payday. Arian, chill out with the pouting on the sidelines, that'll get you hated, especially when you're running at a sub-4.0 YPC. Greg Jones missed a block that resulted in a sack, he'll be fine. (hopefully we start running more power and wham plays to use his skills better B-

WR/TE Dre was Dre, and we really need to cherish what we get to see week in week out. He's a HOF and the best Texan ever. His routes are ridiculous, his hands are strong, and he gets so much respect/cushion from the DB's. Nuk is going to be what we've been looking for in a WR2 for all these years. LeStar needs to chill on the holding, cause he'll find his way to the bench, especially when Posey get's up to speed. OD was OD and looks healthy, that move he put on which scrub was nasty. Graham is making OD expendable if push comes to shove next offseason. I just hope we work in Griffen into the redzone offense and utilize his size. A

OL Man, we all love Duane, and he deserves a bad game after all of his great games, but that ish wont fly this year if we expect to make the SB. I know Freeny has his number but that was just flat out BAD. Give credit to the SD DL, they have some serious young talent on the interior and Johnson and Freeny outside make that front 4 STOUT. But we have to block better and create some more lane in the ZBS D-

DL We really missed Antonio, but Crick held his own and occupied his blocker, but that's not we ask for from our DE's. JJ made his plays, even though he didn't log a sack who cares. I need to see the Mitchell/McClain from the pre-season though B+

LB Joe Mays is going to really help our base run D, if we're in our base, we really need the be in a zone. Mercilus/Reed and right now Cush do not need to be in man coverage. We all say how timid/slowish Cush looked, hopefully it's just rust and him getting the confidence in his knee. Mercilus got some solid pressure that resulted in a sack along with the pressure that I believe caused the Cush pick six. I'm not worried about Brooks getting the sack #'s, just like Barwin last year, he has A LOT of responsibility at SOLB. I wish we could of worked Willie in on some passing situations, but with the Chargers being ahead most of the game, those weren't as common as we'd hope'd. B

DB Didn't pay much attention to Kareem, seeing as he was barley targeted. Anyone see how we did? JJoe and McCain started slow but def picked it up in the 2nd half. Keo had a very up and down night. He had the nice hit over the middle that dislodged the ball but like Apollo said missed some of his assignments and left Brooks and others out to dry. DJ had a tough assignment of the wily old vet and fresh Antonio Gates who put some nice moves on his in the passing game. I can't wait to see how they look when Ed plays. B-

Specialist Martin was average in the return game, another reason I can't wait till Reed plays and we move Manning to fulltime KRer. Lechler is going a be a MAJOR weapon for Kub and the D. Then there's the rook(I know it's his 2nd year)I love that he has soooo many touchback, so we dont have to worry about the coverage as much. Then he get's asked to kick a 51 yarder in which he missed then he's called in to kick the game winning FG and he splits the uprights. A+

Coaching Wade made the adjustment and dropped his strictly man concepts, which would of gotten us blown out and moved to a mix of zone and man. He couldn't be as aggressive and rush 5-6, but if we want to win a SB we HAVE to get pressure with out front 4, which I think we can and will see this week when Antonio comes back. Then there's the HC. Idk who called the fake, but we all know Kub had to agree to it, which is a HUGE victory for us as the supporters of the team. Along with the fake, the fact that we didn't always tense up on 3rd and long and wave the white flag and punt is encouraging. Kub deserves some of the blame for not getting the team better prepared for the LATE night start, but I liked what I saw some him and his personal coaching growth. B-

Game Ball

Matt Schaub - he stayed calm and lead this team through a horrible start/half of football. And was it just me or did he look a little more limber out there. (Not confusing him with an athlete by all means)

I am not for Manning returning kicks. I know Martin isn't special, but that risk to Manning is far too great. Not to mention I am still convinced Marciano is the problem, our kickoff returns have sucked since the rule changed. He is the problem, Not jacoby jones, not trindon holiday, not martin. Its Marciano

So apparently Keo graded out as the 12th best safety out of 70 in week 1. I'm not sure if it's because I have such low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised how he held up against San Diego.

While I appreciate that PFF endeavors to generate "stats" for positions that have always relied on poor measures of evaluation, like "interceptions" as the sole measure of evaluating what CBs & S's do, but they are also wildly subjective and limited by the quality of the individual doing the "rating." This is an outfit that rated Quintin Mikell's 08 season as the 2nd best ever in their system and he occupies 3 of top 15 all-time seasons in their ratings since they launched in 08. He was the 5th highest rated safety in their system last year, but didn't draw a sniff from anyone all off season until the Panthers signed him off the street this week to replace Haruki Nakamura. I didn't hear any Eagles or Rams fans crying when Mikell left, nor do I hear Panthers fans rejoicing because they somehow found the 5th best safety in the NFL sitting on the curb (probably next to a cousin that reviews games for PFF).

So is it officially Titans-Texans week now? Why, I do believe it is.

LET THE TROLLING COMMENCE

I think Titans/Texans week actually is just Indian Brotherhood cuteness week between you and ET.

My goal this week is to have drunk me and drunk ET posting in the same GDT. Relationships will be ruined.

Sorry to burst your bubble my brown skinned chum, but THIS ET RIGHT HERE will be at the game. Very Happy
