This should technically go in the QB thread, but my point is slightly different.

I re-watched the game. Our defense dominated the hell out of them. And that was actually one of the best o-lines in the league and we were still all over them. No joke, we are seriously 1 defense end and 1 linebacker away from having our 2002 like defense....it cant go to waste.

What I mean by that is Goldson and Revis are 29 and 28.

That means that after this season when we let Freeman walk, and draft another QB, and let him develop for 1-2 seasons, those 2 guys are going to be considered old. Theres no way they will be playing as good as they are now. Like I said we cant let that talent go to waste...

We need to find an average QB. Call me crazy, but that is how we got the job done in 2002: elite defense and an average QB on offense. And do not say Freeman is average because he is below. We dont need to find the next Drew Brees in the draft. With the defense that we have, any average QB will do the job. If I was Dom I would trade for Kirk Cousins or acquire Jimmy Clausen in free agency(call me crazy but I think he is good, the Panthers just didn't give him any time to develop).

My point is, if we wait for this season to end to let Freeman walk, then go into the draft and HOPE we found our guys and wait 2 seasons for him to develop, this defense will go to waste.

yep get on the yearly Buc carousel. Start off trash. Look better by mid season. Win 2-3 games at the end of the season. Get the 7th pick. Have what most fans consider a great draft and free agency. Start off trash again. Rinse and repeat

So in two years you think our defense will be washed up?

I understand what you are trying to say I guess but two seasons...

Both Revis and Goldson are elite at their respective positions. When they hit 30 their careers aren't going to be over, neither play running back.

Champ Bailey, Charles Woodson, Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, Ronde Barber, Brian Dawkins, Antonio Winfield are a few guys that have balled in the secondary that are/were well into their 30's.

Also guys like Foster, David, Barron, McCoy, Banks, Clayborn will be coming into their own. I think it will take time to see what this defense is fully capable of.

Having said all that we do need a QB ASAP Very Happy

like you said this should go in the QB discussion thread. It's why I made it so that we dont have thread after thread popping up. Going to quote this and respond to it there
