Quote:
The San Diego Chargers released 11 more players today to get down to the league-mandated 53-man roster.

Here is a list of players the team let go:

Tackle Nick Becton
Linebacker Frank Beltre
Tight End Ben Cotton
Cornerback Marcus Cromartie
Defensive End Logan Harrell
Running Back Michael Hill
Cornerback Josh Johnson
Linebacker Thomas Keiser
Wide Receiver Robert Meachem
Center David Molk
Tight End David Rolf

That means the 53-man roster looks like this:

QB(3): Rivers, Whitehurst, Sorenson
RB(4): Mathews, Whittaker, Woodhead, Brown
FB(1): McClain
TE(3): Gates, Phillips, Green
WR(6): Floyd, Brown, Allen, Ajirotutu, Royal, Goodman

OL(8.)
LT: Dunlap, Harris
LG: Rinehart, Troutman
C: Hardwick, Ohrnberger
RG: Clary, Ohrnberger
RT: Fluker, Harris

DL(7)
DE: Liuget, Scafe, Moore
NT: Thomas, Geathers
DE: Reyes, Wynn

LB(9)
OLB: Freeney, Williams
ILB: Te'o, Bird
ILB: Butler, Gachkar, Smith
OLB: Johnson, English

CB(4): Wright, Cox, Patrick; Marshall
FS(1): Weddle
S(4): Gilchrist, Taylor, Stuckey, Addae

ST(3): Novak; Scifres; Windt

Things can change depending on waiver claims, and the team might feature a new face or two come week 1.

Molk gone? That's a surprise!

And I applaud every member of the Chargers FO and training staff, for having the courage to cut Meachem.
Congratulations!

Was looking through other teams cuts and there are some guys out there that I'd like to see in a Chargers uni.

Christine Michael was cut by the Seahawks, He looked really good verse us and when they played Green Bay, not only rushing but receiving as well. I think his upside is better than Whittaker's.

Bobby Rainey is another that I wouldn't mind as a return man, I've never really liked Goodman back there.

Tondon Doss might be considered with our WR issues. Not sure why he fell so fast in Balt though.

Demetress Bell might also be someone to consider, he might have been bad last season but paired back up with his old OL coach might get him back to his good days as a Bills player.

There's no way Michael was cut, he was a second round pick....

Doss has no special talents. I'd rather get Tavarres King or Chris Harper

He wasn't. Chris Harper was cut who was they're 4th rounder, and so was Michael Robinson.

There's some OT's to consider out there, bringing in as a swing OT

HOW THE HELL DID CLARY MAKE IT THROUGH CUTS AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!?

Why are do they continue to look the other way with him? He was the worst OG in live action. What is it that continues to get him a pass?

Bummed we cut Keiser. I thought he had some upside and was a solid STer as well. Ohrnberger over Molk is another surpise

I'm befuddled. I thought a new regime meant Clary was gone. He physically offers nothing, he isn't ever going to be considered a tactician. The only positive you can say about him is he stays healthy, works hard and has a Dielman attitude.

Goodman was cut today. ST's will suffer. KR average will go down, but it will probably be more exciting.

Why Baker and not Hill?

Not that any would make the 53, anyway....
How do you feel about putting him on the practice squad?

Save us, Fernando Velasco. You're our only hope.

September 4 At 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for all NFL Player Contracts, Practice Player Contracts, tender offers, and miscellaneous amounts to fit within each Club’s 2013 Salary Cap, in anticipation of the midnight expiration of the Top 51 Rule.

Looks like that's the deadline for any major moves
