what a bad turn of events. Losing him in the 4th game of preseason. Well, TE's will continue to murder us this year

What the. I thought he had a shoulder injury? Either way tough blow. Guess our dreams of having a LB on the roster that can cover are gone...

Orlovsky has too much experience here. Manziel doesn't stand a chance.

It is shoulder. LaCanfora corrected himself

It was his shoulder, and he hurt it earlier in the game. he tried to arm tackle someone on the first drive on a sweep to the left that decent yardage. he walked off trying to shake it off. He popped it again later when he was carted off.

Dontay Moch anyone?

Hopefully not to fill his nickel LB role

Nope. Move DiManche to WLB and Moch to SLB. Or think outside the box a little and try mays at WLB. It worked for Thomas Davis coming out of UGA

Either way I am not confident in our ability to cover TE's and RB's out of the backfield.

This sucks so bad. So basically the 2 main backup OLB's that were suppose to be the backups at the startup of the season are out for the season. Now that leaves DiManche as the main backup for either OLB spot.

I think after the great preformence Schaffer had last night, he deserves to stay on the roster and be the backup at ILB. Then move Vincent Rey back to his natural position at OLB and you got 6 guys

That pretty much means Bruce Taylor the only LB left has a good shot to make the practice squad now.

Or maybe they cant trade Dontay Moch for someone to help in this area, since they are trying to trade him away desperately right now.

Yeah, I 've always liked that idea, Mays is good against the run, plays aggressive, and has more than enough speed to run with backs and TE's. He might be a better LB than a safety.

I hope I'm just being too pessimistic, but I have a feeling this could be a potentially devastating injury for the Bengals. Lamur was essentially a starter as he was the only LB we had who could really cover well. Now, I assume we'll be forced to go back to Rey in the nickel, where he'll be terribly exposed. I've been watching the waiver wire, hoping we'd bring in a decent cover LB but it looks like that's not going to happen (I know, Thomas Howard is coming into visit this week).

Just sucks. I really felt like we didn't have a gaping hole on this team, other than maybe SS, but I'm afraid we're going to continue to be exposed by TEs when we're in nickel packages. Zimmer obviously knows much more about defense than I ever will, but I would strongly consider usinga safety such as Williams to take Lamur's place in nickel packages. It's a passing league. You've gotta have LBs who can cover...

I don't get why we're going with seven WRs and only five LBs either.

I think it's pretty obvious we'll be pickup up a coverage LB on waivers with only 5 LB on the roster and Hawkins 100% going onto the IR-Recall list. Dimanche isn't a coverage LB.

No he isn't, but he played all three spots earlier in camp. And he can't be worse than Rey in coverage, can he?

It's not ideal, but if they can't find a nickle LB on waivers, it's an option.

I mean, if there it's no one else then they have to put someone in, but they should be to find half a dozen better options as a coverage LB on waivers imo.
