So Floyd could be the opening day starter at UT? I hope he plays well in this opportunity so the staff can consider keeping him the starter and putting Kevin Williams either at NT or in a reserve role. Based on his season last, he doesnt offer anything more then average play. It is hard for rookie DTs to make an immediate impact, so it may be a struggle for Floyd early on. Im still excited to see him start though if he gets that opportunity.

Strange how it has all played out. Some fans questioned the pick due to the depth we had but then Ballard leaves and Kevin nearly has a season ending injury.

I questioned the pick!

I didnt see the need in taking a developmental UT to sit behind Kevin Williams when there were a few LBs who could have stepped in from day one in Arthur Brown, Alec Ogletree or Manti Te'o.

I may be wrong on this one, especially if Williams injury allows Floyd to take his spot.

The Vikings should have enough DTs to play effectively until KWill returns.

It isn't the ideal situation, but some other teams are facing similar problems with their rosters. A three man front could be used with a rush LB playing on the line in passing downs. Robison played inside on obvious passing downs in the past.

IMO, it will likely be more of an issue for the DLC and DC to get the right combination of DL personnel in the game for each situation.

The NFL said that the "block" on Williams was legal. They don't care about protecting players, they care about protecting offensive players. That was as dirty a hit as I've seen in quite some time. It was completely unnecessary.

IMO, they don't care about protecting defensive players or offensive players. When it comes right down to it, all they really care about protecting is their bottom line. The reason they are so psychotic about concussions these days is that they are very worried about a lot of older players coming out of the woodwork and bringing lawsuits.
