Of course it's been all over the news that the Colts have activated Ahmad Bradshaw from the PUP.

But Brad Wells of Stampede Blue is also saying the Colts have resigned LB Monte Simmons.

http://www.stampedeblue.com/2013/8/12/4615898/colts-move-rb-ahmad-bradshaw-to-active-roster-re-sign-lb-monte-simmons

Because he was on PUP, Bradshaw still counted against the 90 man roster unlike a player on IR. But in order to sign Simmons we would either have to cut/waive a player or place someone on IR. And because the Colts had no practice today they didn't 'officially' announce any roster moves. (These are of course transactions that got leaked from inside the NFL, or by player's agents)

So it is looking more and more like the 'official' word tomorrow will be
-Colts activate Bradshaw from PUP
-waive/injure LB Justin Hickman
-resign LB Monte Simmons

Another thing brought up in that article about the Simmons signing is that the Simmons deal is a 2 year deal and therefore Wells believes that says that Simmons is being brought in as more then just a camp body.

Right Brad, we cut him 5 days or so ago because we have long term plans for him. Rolling Eyes

Camp Notebook Day 12

Day off

Quote:
Chuck Pagano cautioned after Sunday’s 44-20 loss to Buffalo that things never are as good or as bad as they look.

After a few hours of review and a day off for the players, it is time to move past the game and correct mistakes that were made.

The first units played no more than three series, while some starters came out after two possessions.

Talk of physical play has been prevalent in camp. Pagano said the team’s performance should not sound alarms on that front, but that players just need to execute better and be sharper.

Quote:
“It could have been probably a little bit better,” said Pagano of the efforts of his front-liners in a small amount of action. “I thought our offensive line did a nice job. We opened up some holes and things like that.”

The Colts’ offensive starters were mounting a scoring drive on their second chance until a turnover halted the push in the Buffalo red zone.

Andrew Luck was four-of-six passing for 51 yards at the time, while Vick Ballard had 18 yards on three rushes.

“We gave up two long runs early to (C.J.) Spiller. I don’t think it was so much the physical part of it. Give Buffalo credit, they did a nice job (of) blocking. We know what type of back Spiller is.”

Spiller ripped off consecutive runs of 17 and 15 yards on Buffalo’s first two plays. Those came against a Colts unit that was missing starting inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman and safety LaRon Landry.

“We have to do a better job technique-wise up front of staying on our feet, making sure we turn the ball back inside. They got outside our corners. Guys played physical, played tough. We just didn’t play smart in certain situations.”

Indianapolis entered the game with 17 players too banged up to participate. Among those was top draft pick Bjoern Werner (sore knee).

Quote:
NEWS OF THE DAY
Players held out of the Buffalo game were CB-Teddy Williams (quadriceps), S-LaRon Landry (knee), S-Joe Lefeged (calf), S-Larry Asante (shoulder, AC joint), S-Sergio Brown (hamstring),
S-John Boyett (knee), RB-Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), LB-Daniel Adongo (biceps), FB-Dan Moore(shoulder), LB-Josh McNary (hamstring), LB-Jerrell Freeman (shoulder), LB-Pat Angerer (foot), LB-Mario Harvey (hamstring), C/G-Khaled Holmes (ankle), G-Hugh Thornton (ankle), TE-Dwayne Allen (foot) and LB-Bjoern Werner (knee).

Players hurt in action were LB-Justin Hickman (lisfranc), CB-Cassius Vaughn (wrist), DT-Montori Hughes (stinger) and LB-Quinton Spears (hamstring).

“Justin Hickman, unfortunately, suffered a lisfranc injury. He’s going to require surgery which, more than likely, will cost him his season, unfortunately. Hick has done an outstanding job for us. He was having a good ballgame and a good camp. You just feel sick for Justin. It hurts us to lose anybody. Obviously, (I) feel bad for Hick.

“Cassius Vaughn, his x-rays and MRI came back negative. He had had surgery on that wrist a while back. I think mainly what happened (was) he got hit on it (and) it probably tore up some scar tissue. He’ll be day-to-day.”

Hughes will be day-to-day as well, while Spears may miss a week.

Quote:
Indianapolis allowed kickoff returns of 53 and 107 yards.

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent cornerback Johnny Adams and linebacker Monte Simmons. The team also waived-injured linebackers Justin Hickman and Quinton Spears. If Hickman and Spears clear waivers, they will revert to the Colts’ Injured Reserve list.

Didn't hear anything about Spears being done for

Last day of Training Camp.

sorry missed last couple days, long work days this week

Camp Notebook Final Day

Quote:
Friday, August 16 was the final day of training camp in Anderson and included a morning practice session in the stadium. The team broke around noon and plays on Sunday at the New York Giants. The team will establish its operations in Indianapolis and no more practices are open for public viewing. This was the 19th camp the Colts held at Anderson University.

Quote:
At 11:52 a.m., Chuck Pagano called his team up and put one player on the spot – Adam Vinatieri.

Pagano had the team circle Vinatieri for a one-time-make-it-end-camp 51-yard field goal. With piped in crowd noise blaring and the pressure of the moment, Vinatieri split the uprights with room to spare – camp over, go home.

“It’s awesome when Vinny makes field goals to win games or send us home in the right way,” said Andrew Luck. “We’ll miss Anderson. It’s always good to us up here. We get great work up here, but it’s a good end to camp to have Vinny kick that last field goal.”

Quote:
Chuck Pagano says starters on both sides of the ball will play into the second quarter and possibly to halftime.

It is possible Luck could play that full duration, and one tactic quite likely is to see how the offense can get going on the ground.

“There are a lot of things we’ll be watching,” said Pagano. “Offensively and defensively – third downs. We want more balance offensively. We have to run the ball. It’s up to us to get that done.

During Sunday's game against the Giants

Quote:
PLAY OF THE DAY
Adam Vinatieri had about 65 players surrounding him and 11 men across the line who may or may not have been trying to block his 51-yard field goal attempt that, if good, ended camp. Vinatieri has been in tighter jams before, but this one was in the present tense. He was true with room to spare to end camp.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
Luck hit 15-of-20 passes for one touchdown, completing his first eight attempts. Luck was 302-of-432 for 26 TDs in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills in during camp.

Luck teamed with Justice Cunningham in goal-line drills for a score. He was intercepted in the end zone by Delano Howell to end a streak of eight completions to open the day.

Luck and Darrius Heyward-Bey teamed up five times, while Reggie Wayne sat out. “He had an over-30 day off,” said Pagano.

Jeremy Kelley had a scoring reception over Vontae Davis from Chandler Harnish. Lanear Sampson had a scoring reception, too.

NEWS OF THE DAY
WR-Griff Whalen (groin), CB-Teddy Williams (quadriceps), S-LaRon Landry (knee), RB-Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), FB-Dan Moore (shoulder), LB-Josh McNary (hamstring), C/G-Khaled Holmes (ankle), G-Hugh Thornton (ankle), S-Joe Lefeged, LB-Pat Angerer and TE-Dwayne Allen (foot) did not practice.

Coby Fleener (concussion) practiced and still needs to gain clearance to play Sunday. He has one test on Friday afternoon, and Pagano expects no problems.

Seems to this point unless something else comes out that we avoided any big time injuries in camp.

Allen is out of walking boot and looks like he should be good to go week 1.

Still waiting on official word on Landry, hopefully they are just being over cautious with him?

Dont like how much camp Thornton and Holmes missed though, hopefully they can get back to practice so they can help us out this year.

Quote:
PAGANO SAYS (On training camp)
“I thought we had a great camp. The first thing I want to do is thank the fans, thank everybody here are at Anderson. We couldn’t have been able to get done the things we accomplished without the support of everybody. From top-to-bottom, they did an outstanding job. The fans were great. Their support is unbelievable. I thought we made progress. We got a lot out of this camp. From game one to game two, we’re looking forward to playing on a national stage Sunday in New York. We’ll see how far we came, progress-wise.”

Quote:
TODAY’S ATTENDANCE: 635. TOTAL FOR CAMP: 37,647.

Haven't seen it come from the Colts themselves but I seen numerous outlets report that the Colts waive/injured FB Dan Moore yesterday with no corresponding move

http://blogs.colts.com/2013/08/19/indianapolis-colts-sign-wr-maurice-williams/

Quote:
The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent wide receiver Maurice Williams.

Williams, 6-1, 195 pounds, joins the Colts after playing the previous two seasons in the AFL with the Cleveland Gladiators (2012-13) and Orlando Predators (2013) as a wide receiver and defensive back. For his career, Williams recorded 39 receptions for 537 yards and 12 touchdowns, while adding 35 kickoff returns for 628 yards and two touchdowns. He also posted 33 tackles (22 solo) and four interceptions, including three returns for touchdowns on defense.

According to PFT, his bio on the AFL teams site states his college career was played at Pittsburgh

Reading his Wiki page
Quote:
Picked to attend the University of Pittsburgh over West Virginia and Iowa for the 2007 NCAA Football Season to play for the Panthers. Williams played one season for the Panthers as a True Freshman. After being Panthers top Wide Receiver in three spring scrimmages and the Annual Blue-Gold Game, Williams was declared Academically Ineligible. Early reports said Williams was set to take a Red-Shirt year, but he transferred to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He never became eligible to play at Edinboro. [1] [2]

http://www.wthr.com/story/23200060/2013/08/20/colts-rookie-caesar-rayford-ruling-preseason

Quote:
Rayford, a 27-year-old rookie linebacker finally getting his chance in the NFL, kept working hard and never gave up on his dream.

"You got the guys that get the front door. You got the guys that get the back door. Then you got guys like me that got to climb the house and jump through the chimney. Hopefully, that landing doesn't hurt too bad and get back up. I'm definitely blessed for the opportunity," he said.

Quote:
Rayford has already made some stand out plays in the preseason, and he certainly stands out in the locker room at 6-foot-7, 267 pounds.

"Being tall and rangy and long, I got some good tools to use. It does have its pros!" he said.

Rayford spent the last four seasons in the Arena Football League. The Utah Blaze call him the best pass rusher in team history.

"Being in arena, it's pass, pass, pass. I think my big transition is to be stout and set the edge on the run. I feel like I turned some heads. Still, there's some work to be done and can't be complacent. Just got to keep pushing," he said.

Roster cuts begin next week. Rayford has given the Colts reason to keep him.

"Having that length and that size and having a motor and the ability to learn and process definitely gives him a shot," said Pagano.

Just a shot is all Caesar wants.

Really like Caesar hopefully he makes the team.
