Texans should go after this guy

New England Patriots: The Patriots released nose tackle Keith Traylor on Wednesday, giving last year's first-round draft pick Vince Wilfork a chance for more playing time.

Traylor started 10 regular-season games in his only year with the Patriots. He was a restricted free agent when he signed with them on March 31, 2004.

Traylor, 35, had spent the previous three seasons with the Chicago Bears. In 13 NFL seasons, he's been with six teams after being drafted by Denver in the third round in 1991 as a linebacker.



He would be a very good back up at NT in the 3-4 and has played in that defense before. A good plug in the middle and he could be had for a relatively cheap price. Yes, he is old, but you should be able to get a productive year out of him as a back up.

If we did this, it would give us Smith and Walker starting at DE and Payne at NT. Then we could rotate in Travis Johnson(who coaches say figures to play more time at DE than NT at least for now), and Deloach at DE and Traylor at NT.

On paper, it seems to make sense, but with how the Texans have handled their offseason so far, I don't see it happening, which is too bad.

I remember watching Traylor return a fumble for about 70 yards for the Bears. Everyone loves watching the fat guy run! Anyway, I agree, this would be a nice pickup since we could use another big guy in the middle.
