Camp Notebook Day 2

Quote:
PLAY OF THE DAY
Darius Butler had a red zone pick of Andrew Luck late in the workout. Luck and T.Y. Hilton combined on a long slant pass early in practice drills.

Butler has been looking good, our secondary is going to look great!

Quote:
PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
Andrew Luck led a crisply-paced practice and hit 27-of-43 passes (not counting a spike) for one touchdown. He hit Coby Fleener for a score. Luck is 49-of-77 for three TDs in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills in two days. Luck hit nine straight passes in 11-on-11 work near the end of practice. Luck hit Reggie Wayne on a checkdown play late in practice with Wayne being at least the third option, a goal of Pep Hamilton’s this season.

Quote:
NOTE OF THE DAY
Chuck Pagano said G-Hugh Thornton has an ankle sprain and will miss some time. NT-Brandon McKinney missed today’s work with knee swelling. NT-Martin Tevaseu (shoulder), TE-Justice Cunningham (cramps) and DT-Montori Hughes (cramps) missed some afternoon work.

2 things that caught my attention

- LaVon Brazill saying he'll choose money over marijuana everytime (yeah now you will)
- DHB playfully calling Luck a goofy guy. Which goof dropped 5 passes already?

Yeah hopefully he can catch a little more when it is for real, because he shoudlnt be dropping easy passes in training camp, has to be focus, just needs a little more of it.

Camp Notebook Day 3

Quote:
Today was the fourth day of the 2013 camp, and pads went on again. It was the first of nine camp practices where Colts players are “padded up.” Today was a step that leads in the progression to preseason play on August 11.

Quote:
PLAY OF THE DAY
The third of Andrew Luck’s four TDs was the practice highlight. In red zone work, Luck scrambled to his right and found T.Y. Hilton between Darius Butler and Vontae Davis. Luck threaded the pass into a small window to complete the play. Three of his four scoring tosses came in the drill.

Quote:
PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

Andrew Luck hit 22-of-33 passes for four touchdowns and one interception, finding Reggie Wayne, Coby Fleener, Hilton and Dwayne Allen for scores, while Vontae Davis had an end-zone interception of Luck. Luck is 71-of-110 for seven TDs in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills in three days

Quote:
Davis had a pass defensed from Luck-to-Hilton early in practice. Greg Toler had another solid pass defensed midway through work, and safety LaRon Landry delivered a post-reception shot to Darrius Heyward-Bey

Quote:
NEWS OF THE DAY
G-Hugh Thornton (ankle) missed today’s morning work. C/G-Khaled Holmes left early in the afternoon practice with an ankle injury. LB-Scott Lutrus (knee) and S-Sergio Brown (hamstring) missed time.

DHB is what he is. Great teammate, hard worker and a very good blocker but an absolutely terrible hands catcher meaning he isn't any kind of deep threat. He will make body grabs and is a good YAC runner but that's his ceiling.

Quote:
Luck’s camp totals: 88-of-132, six TDs, three interceptions.

Quote:
NT Josh Chapman has been intriguing to watch. Frequently, he’s been a handful. On one play during 11-on-11 work, Chapman blew up a running play. The 340-pounder burst off the line and pushed C Samson Satele and G Mike McGlynn into T Gosder Cherilus and Allen. End of play. That’s the type of interior disruption coach Chuck Pagano wants from the nose tackle.

Who is the best QB from the 2012 draft? It has been decided already today as the Colts have released Robert Griffin.

The Indianapolis Colts today signed undrafted free agent guard Danous Estenor and waived guard Robert Griffin.

The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent center Thomas Austin and waived-injured inside linebacker Scott Lutrus. If Lutrus clears waivers, he will revert to the Colts’ Injured Reserve list.

Another player from IR back on IR for another year

We needed some depth at C because Khaled Holmes is nursing an injury and we only had Rick Schmeig behind Satele

I read this last night, cant wait to see him in action.

Is he really up to 340? I thought he was weighing in around 316?

Camp Notebook day 5

Quote:
PLAY OF THE DAY
While a key approach for the offense this year is for Andrew Luck to run as little as possible, for the second straight day he rushed for a touchdown. Today in a spread set, Luck hovered in the pocket before seeing nothing but green ahead of him. Luck motored about 30 yards for a score

Quote:
PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS
Andrew Luck hit 18-of-32 passes with one touchdown and one interception, teaming with Reggie Wayne for the score and being pirated by Vontae Davis early in practice. Davis’ interception came on a deep route to T.Y. Hilton, who made the tackle.

Luck is 106-of-164 for eight TDs in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills in five days.

Quote:
NEWS OF THE DAY
G-Hugh Thornton (ankle), C/G-Khaled Holmes (ankle), S-Sergio Brown (hamstring), DT-Kellen Heard (illness), S-Antoine Bethea (wife’s child birth), WR-LaVon Brazill (abdomen), LB-Mario Harvey (hamstring), Daniel Adongo (biceps) and Greg Toler (concussion) missed practice.

Quote:
DE Cory Redding is getting a bit irritated with QB Andrew Luck running whenever his protection fails during team drills. Wednesday, Redding chased Luck to the goal line and chided, “You know you’re not supposed to run.”

Luck was asked about Redding’s comments.

“Cory’s old,” he said, laughing. “Don’t write that. He’ll probably beat me up now.”

OK, we won’t write it.

Also looks like OT Bradley Sowell might just make the team to be a goal line specialist. Twice now he has caught passes in practice, one from Pat McAfee (fake FG into TD) and one from Hasselbeck (2 point conv)

Cory Redding is the man, you know he wanted to pop Luck. I hope he can stay healthy this year

Interesting note on Sowell, probably definitely increases his chances.

They have morning practice this morning, I always just check first thing everyday, for no major injuries.

Regular season cant get here quick enough.
