Cardinals and first-rounder Jonathan Cooper agree to terms, I’m told. The wait is over. Training camp bound.

The Cardinals did get off-set language.

Cooper has been lined up against Calais Campbell. And it sounds like he really held his own against the star DE.

Quotes from Campbell:

"I got him with a few vet moves but for the most part I think he’s a stud.”

“That dude is a heck of a run blocker,” Campbell said. “Going against him I really have to bring my big boy pads. I can’t slouch against him because he’ll make me look bad.”

Campbell words mean nothing to me...he also said Dan Williams and Kevin Kolb were future HOFers.

So in other words, Cooper is going to be a bust.

You don't think a star defensive lineman admitting that he was basically dominated by an offensive lineman means anything? Would you not be concerned if Campbell was saying that he was dominating Cooper with ease?

Did you not read my post. I said I don't care what Campbell says...he always has nice things to say about his teammates. He probably just likes to motivate these guys, by giving them some extra confidence.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1720702-arizona-cardinals-training-camp-2013-day-4-highlights-lowlights

"Defensive end Calais Campbell likely will deny it ever happened, but on the first live play in 11-on-11 drills, he was blown five yards off the ball by first-round pick Jonathan Cooper as Rashard Mendenhall took a handoff up the middle."

"Cooper’s impact was instant, leading to massive holes up the middle more than once with both starting units on the field. One of the best defensive lines was suddenly mediocre simply because of Cooper’s presence at left guard."

I guess it's not just Campbell who thinks Cooper is a stud.

And maybe he is, but what do expect these guys to say? That he sucks? That his dreadlocks resemble the aliens from AvsP?...what players/coaches/ or whoever say about a teams new additions means nothing to me. Just this week we have heard Rob Ryan call Keenen Lewis the best offseason transaction, and the chiefs offensive coordinator call Alex Smith the NFLs best QB...should chief fans be expecting an MVP season and a Lombardi trophy in February?.

Edit:
Journalist's are not always that reliable either. Some of them give honest feedback, some cant separate from the homer inside them...my point is that we won't know what we have in Cooper until the games get going. Remember all the good we heard about Antrel Rolle in his first training camp, and then again throughout his second? We were given the impression that we had the next Ty Law on our team...and I won't talk about Matt Leinart, because I don't want to ruin everybody's Friday afternoon.

I agree with you, but until live football starts training camp is all we have to work with. And it's not like you never hear bad things coming out of camp either. So the things we are hearing right now are much more promising than they could be. We could be hearing:

"Cooper appears out of shape and had a difficult time completing his conditioning test"--did Alan Branch fail his 1st one?

Or

"Cooper had a hard time handling the strength of Calais Campbell, pre-draft concerns about his inability to contain stronger linemen may have been spot on"

I'm just excited all things coming out of camp appear to be positive.
