Training camp is opening soon, finally in what seems to have been forever and a day.

Every year there seems to be a cut that surprises. One that you didn't see coming. Like a unicorn waiting by your front door as you leave for work.

So who do you see as a surprise cut this year?

I think we trade Dan Carpenter for a 6th or 7th. I think we also could see Daniel Thomas sent packing. I expect Egnew to be cut. If Vonta Leach comes in, I expect Javorskie Lane to be sent away. Other than that, I think John Jerry has to play hard to keep his gig.

My surprise cut is going to be Lance Louis. He was the guy that was supposed to take over Jerry's spot but his injury so far hasn't recovered and Dallas Thomas is now in the mix.

Probably not a surprise, per say, but Dimitri Patterson.

In theory Egnew or Daniel Thomas should be a surprise due to draft position, but neither will be if it happens.

Clearly drafting Sturgis signals the Carpenter era is now over, not much of a surprise there either.

I think Charles Clay could get waived, and that would be a bit of a surprise I suppose since he's been talked up as being so versatile. He's a tad small and a tad slow, bad combo in today's NFL.

Yeah that would be a surprise. I would think Miami would just place him on PUP due to his upside. I would be surprised is John Jerry makes the team. Not sure that would be a surprise though.

I honestly do not see any surprise cuts as Egnew, Jerry, Misi are all on the fringe anyway. I would be more surprised if they make the team.

Misi has good value. He's making $630k with most of it being dead money. Maybe we just let him walk next year and draft his replacement early, like Jake Ryan from Michigan who I like, if healthy. Is Kaddu a SLB or WLB?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like we have a ton of players are physically suited for SLB like Misi is. Wheeler is projected to start at WLB, Jordan and Jenkins both will probably see time there as well.

Charles Clay is probably the best answer

Here is a surprise cut for you, Richard Marshall. I can see them cutting him and keeping Patterson because Patterson is the best slot corner we have. If Jamar Taylor can step in and play soon, I can really see this happening.

Brent Grimes......I mean, Randy Starks. Lol

I doubt I'll be surprised with any of our cuts. I do wish we could trade Starks though.
