Per source with knowledge of negotiations, long-term deal between Victor Cruz and the Giants is very close. It could come as soon as today.

Glad one thing is behind us.

Great deal for the Giants. His deal puts him as the 17th highest paid WR.

Just got a espn alert that he signed a 6 year 46 million deal. That's even better.

Its the same deal. The only difference is one includes this years 1st round tender for Cruz while the other one does not.

Yea I realize that now. The way I read it earlier I was thinking it was a 5 year 46 million.

Good deal for both sides. Giants could conceivably sign Nicks as well. Cruz gets a big pay raise and gets to stay in the NY market. Happy this one's behind us

Both sides win IMO. Fairly cheap contract if you compare it to what others have gotten on the open market, so good for the Giants. But, Cruz gets to stay in NY and rake in the endorsement deals as well.

Hard to believe the last WR we paid big money was Plaxico Burress in 2004? 2005?

Cheap deal! Hows this affect our Cap? Will Eli be restructuring now?

Excellent work on both sides. Great contract, fair value for VC and not a killer for the Giants.

He's staying at the Round 1 tender cap number he has now (like $2,879,000), so it doesn't change this year. It's basically an extension that starts next year. They might as well ride the season and wait for Eli to restructure next year for Nicks. If Eli restructures this year, it will make it harder to redo in future years. Per Spotrac, $4 million under the cap. Pugh's contract will lop off about $1 million of that so we basically have $3 million currently.

Juat had a look at Sportrac. Very interesting.

Eli is altready a 20 mil cap hit due to previous restructures, so we can only extend him I suppose this time to lower hs figures. However, should be a cap increase next year, and we have 6 mil in dead money coming off too. Lots of players to sign next year though!

Tremendous quote from Antrel Rolle on difference between Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz:

Nicks "is a little more deceptive than Victor Cruz," Rolle said earlier tonight on @NFLNetwork Total Access. "When you look at Nicks you might not think he is moving as fast but when you are up against him, running with him, you understand this guy is moving. His hands are probably the biggest I’ve ever seen on a receiver. I call him ‘The Silent killer.’ His routes are so smooth; everything he does is so smooth.

"While Victor Cruz is going to always put a little bit of salsa on it. I think he goes out there and gives you the wiggles, gives you the shake and he is exceptionally quick. If he takes a step on you, you can pretty much cancel Christmas.”
