Quote:
"I would say yes,'' Bryant said after the rookies' Play 60 youth event at the Browns facility on Tuesday when asked if drugs and alcohol had been a problem for him. "Because I thought at times I was above the game, and that's one thing theyíve been teaching us at the symposium -- donít be above the game. It's a blessing that Iím even here playing this game and living out a dream of mine. So don't take advantage of this, and I feel thatís exactly what I did.

Quote:
Since the DUI arrest, Bryant has sworn off drugs and alcohol, become an X-Box junkie and has been kickin' it with Keke, who's helped him stay clean.

"Iíve cut out going out, Iíve stopped drinking, everything,'' he said. "Iíve just been sticking myself in a hotel room, me and Barkevious Mingo, thatís my roommate. He's just been keeping me focused and just really helping me out through my situation and everything. We go out, go watch a movie, go out to dinner, just get my mind of stuff like that.''

Quote:
I guess it works both ways,'' he said. "He's obviously trying to make amends for the mistakes he's made in his past. He's trying to stop doing stuff that caused him problems. Me not doing that and him being with me, we kind of just have common interests I guess. We're doing the same things, so it kind of worked out for the both of us.''

He's also convinced that Bryant is determined to stay straight.

"I've talked with him a lot. Like I said, we're roommates. He's trying to make up for that. Those guys that we just saw, he doesn't want that to happen to him.''

I work 30 seconds from where the Symposium is being held.

We drove by it today and you would have thought that the President is in there.

kudos to mingo nothing like positive peer pressure.
I hope this guy is the real deal so he can serve as a positive example of good football.

Everything I have read says that Mingo is not only an athletic freak, but has values.

Maybe he can impart them to the likes of Bryant?

Maybe sell him on the idea that "We can be great"?

I have a bad feeling that he is going to be a stud and only here for his rookie contract. That's if he doesn't flame out on drugs.

I assume he is on a 4 year deal. So after this season it's half done.

Sounds like Haden is doing a good job mentoring also. A couple tweets from Daryl Ruiter:
