Burnett has been a solid safety for years, but this is the season where we need him to take a big step forward to an elite defensive back. Having the continued development of McMillan will be key to this growth on Burnett's part, especially from a continuity perspective.

If they can lock down the back end and continue to make plays, our perimeter guys will be fine and our pass rush should cause problems. This defense can be leaps and bounds better if the communication can improve in the secondary and another pass rusher emerges. Burnett, more generally, is critical to this defense taking the next step.

I'd argue Jordy is probably around the 30th-40th best receiver in the NFL, maybe 50th.

Way too early to go Shields - arguably our 3rd best corner.
That would be a very weak argument for Shields as out #3 best CB. Tramon hasn't been right since 2010. Shields is pretty easily the better player right now. Hayward and Shields is a toss up depending on what u like more from your CB but Shields is #2 at worst and has a strong argument as our best DB.

But if Williams' shoulder is back to normal I'd say Tramon is better than Shields. Sam's big edge is his speed but can he cover better? BTW, I voted for Jordy.

I'd have voted Pickett.

I voted Burnett for the same reason as a couple of others: if he goes down he's going to be hard to replace. The same can go for Jordy too though. Cobb and Jones are great but our offense would struggle without Jordy. It's really a tossup.

IF Tray's shoulder is better he would have an argument but it's been almost 2 full years since the original injury. Expecting it to ever be back to normal might be wishful thinking.
