We have discussed the lack of a vet at running back. Certainly, McGahee is an interesting option.

1) He is veteran. We have a lot of youth and a lot of questions.

2) Who would you rather have, Daniel Thomas or Willis McGahee?

3) His cost would be minimal so there are no Adrian Peterson numbers to toss around.

4) He went to the U.

5) I nearly knocked him over at the Heat game where Michael Jordan was making his farewell tour with the Wizards. I caught him. Drew Rosenhaus gave me a dirty look.

6) He has already listed Miami as a place he would like to play.

So what do you think? Kick the tires take a look? Possibly sign him? Or pass on him?

I wouldn't hate it. But there are still 6 other RB's on the open market that would be nice to have if we don't have a great 1 and 2 combo establish themselves at the position in training camp. I'd be tempted to wait it out unless he takes a small one year contract.

I believe were set as far as a rusher is concerned.
I'd rather land a thumpin FB/pass protector or another OL.

I would rather have Daniel Thomas to be honest. When healthy the kid is a beast. Willis is done imo. Nothing to see there

1) 9 fumbles in 2 seasons
2) Hasn't played a 16-game season in his whole career.

He's an injury prone and fumble prone back whose upside isn't really all that great. I'll pass, but I wouldn't be upset if we signed him as a change of pace back for Miller. Definitely don't want him as the starter, though.

He's kinda old at this point- maybe if there's an injury or some of our backs disappoints at training camp. But otherwise, I think we shouldn't take another step back.

We have a second year back that had endless potential and now the entire coaching staff seems to have faith in. At this point, I wouldn't worry about adding someone new. There will be plenty of veteran backs available during camp if things start going wrong.

i would have added a vet awhile ago. I suspect Lamar Miller may be a fine and capable starter, but Daniel Thomas is pedestrian and currently we have him as #2. If something happens to Miller I'd like to know a vet is in place to step in and carry the load. The rest of the depth on our roster is comprised of virtually unknown commodities, a vet would be a nice fail safe. With that said, McGahee is not high on my list. I would have much prefered Ahmad Bradshaw. As Deets pointed out, there should be available players at the position later on, but Daniel Thomas is such a scrub, I'd just assume bring someone in now.

My theme for this year is "at some point you have to rely on your draft picks". That is my stance on picking up a veteran RB when one is already in camp. Sure, Thomas is not reliable but there will always be a runningback available. The key is finding one suitable for a ZBS.
