Brandon Browner is the only player that reacted to the statement. In my humble opinion, Browner is a meathead (just from hearing him speak on the Real Rob Report) and I'm not surprised that he said what he did. Only he is dumb enough to say it.

I know this is "trash talk," but am I the only one who thinks talking about putting your hands around someone's neck is just a tad bit over the top? It's one thing to say, "Man, I wish Jim was still playing, I'd love to line up against him and win that matchup all game long." It's another thing to basically say you want to kill someone.

Do they fine for threats?

In the context of the quote, it was purely a hypothetical by Browner and not really a "threat" so to speak. I'll at least give him that much credit, but still a horribly ignorant response by him.

Let's take a very common statement I've heard many times: "Man, I wish she was a man. I'd knock her teeth out."

Completely hypothetical, even more so than what Browner said. It's still completely inappropriate. Football has much stricter guidelines than "the law" and Browner's statement was extremely unsportsmanlike. Intent is what makes a threat a threat. Not whether the context is plausible.

Just my two cents.

Now you're getting way too much into a gray area; the NFL can't insinuate or dictate what someone's "intent" may be. Browner's intent may have been nothing more than shock. I think if it were a flat out threat, the NFL could step in, though I find it unlikely. Athletes in other sports say things like this all the time, and I'm sure they do in the NFL as well, just maybe not so graphic with the specifics. I think it's the verbage that he used more than anything that made this a story.

I agree with this. I think this is definitely fine-able, by the league. But in a way, I don't want the league to fine him. It would just make the seahawks and their fans play the victim. And if they still don't win the superbowl, it will only fuel conspiracy theorists. I prefer Browner to be an idiot than risk making him a martyr.

Browner has always been an immature punk. The Sea'PED'hawks players can continue to making a fool of themselves for all I care.

Oh look another 42-13 poke. It amazes me to read on just about every NFL website how Seahawk fans believe there team is so much better then the 49ers because of 1 game last December. Im going to love it when their world comes crumbling down after week 2 when they sit at 0-2. Yep Panthers will hand them their first loss of the season in week 1. Seahawks wont win on the road. Then just like last year Seahawk fans will be calling for Pete Carrolls head.

I have no idea why I'm idiotically unearthing this thread, but why was that a poke? All Tooki did was respond to two trollish comments about our team being a joke, and how our fanbase runs their mouths. This isn't exactly the forum to trash talk, as evidenced in the slogan, "Join the forums, more talk less trash".

So, we're trolling our own forum now? Or did a seahawks fan just get out of his way to come troll us?

The "joke of a team" comes from the seahawks seemingly not condemning cheating. All of a sudden, Jim Harbaugh condemns cheating, and that's a wrong thing, now? There is a joke in there.

All he did was respond to trolling? He came into the 49er forum and said "continue to be mad Whiner fans." That's the definition of trolling. Get off your high horse and stick to your Seadderall Seachicken forum. And keep rooting for those cheaters.

This thread is heading in the wrong direction, and I don't see it getting much better, so I'm going to lock it up.
