Bills sign WR DeMarco Sampson, waive DB Vernon Kearney

Nothing really for me to comment on.

First thoughts were who and who?

Probably nothing more than practice squad players. Going to be a hard fought battle for the WR positions this year.

I see it playing out like this:

Stevie Johnson
Robert Woods
TJ Graham
Marquise Goodwin
Da'Rick Rogers
Brandon Kaufman

Most notably, I think Brad Smith gets cut.

4 rookies and cutting our 2nd most expierenced reciever? Dont see it. Although I do like all those rookies. I just think Kaufman gets left out.

But Smith has the downside of showing slowdown, and lacking that real position as a WR. We paid him a lot of money and he's barely contributed anything but thrown a couple terrible INT's. Laughing

Not really, I've been largely indifferent to him. The Bills seem to like him though and have kept him around despite injuries.

I remember someone continued to have faith in him despite the fact that he has barely played.

I think he gets cut a few weeks into training camp tbh.

I tend to agree with this.. I dont like it, but I see it this way too..

Also, I think as much as we fans love Rogers, I dont know that he makes the team.. He was passed on by 32 teams many times, there is a good chance that no matter how much WE like him, that the Bills will have a reason to give him the boot..

I hope you're wrong about Rogers, and what you say makes sense, but there have been other late round guys/UDFA that have done well despite getting picked late/going undrafted. I hope he takes this chance to really prove that he's matured and is ready to be an adult. I really think that was the only thing holding him back.

Rodgers was passed over because of his off-field issues, not his talent. I think he has shown that he is cleaning that up and has ben very humbled by being kicked out of Tennessee and not being drafted.

As for our WR's..

Stevie, Woods, Graham, Rodgers, Goodwin, Elliot.

I think Dickerson makes the team as well who is capable of be a FB/WR/TE so he adds depth.

I dont see Brad Smith being cut. He has played decent at special teams and is a veteran wr. From a financial stand point they could but since they have so much in cap space plus the additional $7 million they made today from Fitzpatrick money isnt an issue. He will fight for a spot but I dont see him losing his roster spot.

Easley shouldnt even be on the team he had a chance and didnt shine like the bills thought he had every chance to stay on the team and injuries do happen but the bills need a healthy guy. He doesnt have much upside now that they have 4 younger wr that are better.

If you ask me, there is zero chance Rogers is getting cut. The talent speaks for itself. There definitely had to be some concerns as everyone passed on him, but from what I've been reading, he was drug tested multiple times throughout the season last year, and passed every one of them. He knows this is his chance to redeem himself. He's a little cocky, but you have to expect that kind of mentality out of a WR. The best part about it, is that he and Robert Woods are already pretty close as they spent alot of time together leading up to the draft. I'm excited for this kid. I really am. I think our WR group is going to be pretty darn good, although the group we keep will be a bit low on the experience side of things.

This entire post is pretty spot on IMO. I think Rogers ends up being at worst our #4 WR, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he becomes our #2.
