I heard a rumor that we may be dealing with the Giants to steal Hakeem Nicks?!?!?!? What do you think it would take to get him? Would we be able to get him, sign him, and extend Greg Hardy in the offseason?

Honestly, he is a very likely possibility next offseason.
And I would be thrilled. When he is healthy, he is a tank.

James Dator made an interesting point, would you prefer Hakeem Nicks or Greg Hardy?

Who says we can't have both? Getting Nicks makes Smitty a bit more expendable, if I remember correctly he had a horrific contract, which frees up even more cap to make a deal like this happen.

If I had to choose though, I'm going with Hardy all day every day.

How does smith have a horrific contract? Smith will retire panthers, he wont move anywhere else hes stated that multiple times and I dont think this organization would let go its best player ever.

Over the next 3 years, we owe Smith approximately 23M, not to mention an option for 2016 that is 12M alone. Not exactly the money you want to be paying an aging WR.

I would rather take the money we were to pay Smith over these years and reinvest in younger players. Smith is who he is, but it's evident that him alone is not going to take us to the promise land.

I love Steve Smith as much as the next guy. Steve Smith will retire a Panther, I'm just not sure how much longer we can continue to pay him when there are younger players that need to be locked up before he is.

In all honesty I'd rather have hardy over nicks. However, i would not be against bringing nicks in. If healthy (and that's a big if) he is a legit #1. He doesn't really blow the top off a d but he is a powerful wr that's a force in the redzone. that combined with possession wr lafell and speedsters gettis, ginn or adams (provided they all develop or heal a tad) is enticing. along with olsen I would like our passing game chances

I would love it, but just don't see it happening this offseason

Hands down Greg from the player perspective, but if we include money I'm not sure. If Nicks comes cheap, where as Hardy would require a Johnson type deal(Not saying it would, but hypothetically) I might lean more towards getting Mr. Hakeem.
