obviously you've got the young stud in Gilmore who is developing, but how is McKelvin these days? Did he earn the job as a starter or is he probably just holding down the fort until you can find a replacement since Aaron Willliams didn't seem to take over as they hoped?

Ron Brooks is an up and coming player who will burst onto the scene eventually. He is the definition of a lock down corner. McKelvin isnt bad, he is just not the player he was expected to be. Williams I believe switched to SS.

The thing with McKelvin is he's always in the right position, but sucks at making a play on the ball. He has no ball skills. His coverage is great, but when the ball is in the air he is a non-factor. With that said I think he will be our starter this year.

I think most were surprised to see McKelvin resigned to be the #2, but that is what happened. He improved his play more when he moved to the slot for coverage, but like people said, he can be in the right place 99% of the time, just no ball skills and when he is out of position that 1%, it is usually pretty bad, burnt toast bad.

Ron Brooks had a monster preseason his rookie year but just has not been healthy as well as a log jam at the CB spot. Aaron Williams had/has tackling issues and is being moved to safety this year. Justin Rogers was just.....well he was on the field last year.

Both. And knowing Pettine, he'll also likely see time at NT and OLB.

I think McKelvin was re-signed because of the aggressive system we'll have on defence. Getting constant pressure on the QB could allow McKelvin to make a few INT this year. I expect our CB's to look something like this...

1: Gilmore, Brooks, Robey
2: Mckelvin, D.Williams.

Also I think A. Willams and Meeks will be at S and both are capable of moving up to CB if needed.

Brooks showed a few flashes but was beaten way to often for me to agree with your assesment of him. He may become a lockdown guy, but I think he is best suited for the slot. At least in the near future.

The style he plays is that of a lockdown corner. He still made mistakes as a rookie but even Revis made a lot of the same mistakes when he was a rookie. In preseason he was shutting down recievers, once he gets more expierence playing against better recievers then I feel he will break out.
