yeah and that's the type of guy thy need. They have the alpha male with Wall, the perfect side kick to him with beal who doesn't mind being Robin to Wall's batman and now if they could get a humble guy like Porter who can be a 3rd option and do it all from the SF spot from shooting to running the offense to rebounding to defense. This team really could be the Thunder of the east if just one of their other big guys steps up who they drafted in 2010 and 2011. Maybe even w/o them.

Gio Gonzalez in Steve McCatty Playgirl t-shirt

Quote:
We'd be remiss if we didn't post something about the t-shirt Dan Haren made for Nats pitchers featuring the pic of Steve McCatty in that 1984 issue of Playgirl, which officially blew up and became a "thing" on Tuesday: Haren got T-shirts of McCatty's Playgirl shot made today. "UNTUCK" on back. "Utter joy," Clippard said. "This is the best day of my life."

@MikePradaSBN: The kind of off-ball defense you're seeing from Kawhi Leonard is what you'll also see with Otto Porter in a few years.

There's also some talk they'll take Anthony Bennett, who apparently has a higher offense ceiling than Porter, but is a significant negative on defensive side of the ball (read: doesn't play D at all).

Don't worry, they'll screw it up.

(for some (a few?), this might be a flashback)

Now it's time for another Good Idea, Bad Idea.

Good Idea:
Going to the beach for your vacation.

Bad Idea:
Going to the beach for your vacation to only get hit with a stomach bug followed by a head cold in rapid succession so you spend it indoors.

This has been another Good Idea, Bad Idea.

Actually here's an even more devastating scenario: the Cavs take Porter which allows Noel to fall to the Wizards. The fanbase gets absolutely giddy about the true defensive center only to see him turn into the next Greg Odom.

Ugh. Stay away from Noel. Kids got a bum knee and weighs 205 lbs at 7' tall. For comparison Lebron is 6'8" and weighs about 250lbs.

Bennett is interesting, but you're right he's a defensive liability. He can shoot though, which is nice for a 4. His ceiling is a poor man's Carmelo I think. Porter is interesting but I've read that Cleveland may take him #1. He'd probably be the best pick for Washington though. Honestly, there's no one in this draft who's a can't miss prospect, so maybe they should swing for the fences on a big man like Maryland's Len, or Rudy Gobert from France (dude's got a 7'9" wingspan!). Maybe one of them turns out like Drummond from UCONN last year, who was panned as being a reach but turned out looking like a pretty good pick. You can't teach size.

I believe I called Gobert a month or so ago because he was the highest ranked Euro player, which always has panned out for the Wizards. I mean, when has a Euro big man ever failed to strike it big in the NBA (or even deign to play in the US)? However that is before I realized that Len was a Ukrainian big man with impressive skills but maddening inconsistency and knee/foot problems. I mean that's almost a dog whistle for Grunfeld.

As for Bennett, they already have Nene at the 4 (along with those superstuds of Jan Vesely and Chris Singleton). Unless they can trade Nene, getting a situational 4 3rd overall sounds exactly like a Wizard move. BTW, Nene is making either $14M or $16M a season through 2016 I think. So good luck moving that contract.

I sense some sarcasm in your first paragraph :p. You're right though, I don't know how they get rid of Nene unless they pay someone to take him (like how the Clippers did with Baron Davis which cost them Kyrie Irving). I thought they drafted Vesely to play the 3, I know he's 6'10" but I thought he was a wing player. Not that it matters he isn't very good. Singleton played the 3 in college but you're right I don't think he's athletic enough to be one in the NBA which makes him an undersized 4. He's more of a defensive specialist though. After some further thought though you're probably right I don't see how they fit Bennett in that rotation.

Ideally you would get a mad scientist to merge Singleton's defensive capabilities with Bennett's offensive abilities.

Of course, this being the Wizards they'd probably end up with Singleton's offense and Bennett's D.
