Looks like if mingo was not on the board, the rams would have moved up to number 6 in the draft and only would have given up the number 16, the second rounder, and the 7 th rounder. We ended up giving up even more for the number 8..

I'm pretty sure we gave up the same amount, we traded #16, our 2nd rounder and 7th rounder for #8. We also swapped 3rd round picks with Buffalo, which I believe they had the higher draft slot in that round. So technically we did better...

Well probably just to really make sure they got him since buffalo was "interested" and the jets too

When you give up the same picks to move to #8 as #6 what's the difference?

Sweet. Glad the Browns picked Mingo.

You take the kid where you can get him. He's a special player and an unique talent. Type of player that is hard to compare because his skill-set almost never comes around.

Don't worry. Sean Payton would pass the ball in a Tornado.

But would he do it in a Sharknado?

Also interesting to read the part about another team trading up to 6 and giving up a bunch of picks. They mention it could have been SF, and I believe it considering that they scouted Austin and the haul seems to indicate it was a team at the back of the order.

Could have been for anyone though I guess, who knows.

Wow, its hard to fathom who this trade up would have been for, as they were going to be giving up a ton to get up there, close to the RG3 trade we got:

Quote:
Even more interesting: At one point, the Browns considered dealing the No. 6 overall pick to a "marquee franchise" in exchange for a second-round pick, a first-round pick in 2014, a first-round pick in 2015 and two other future picks. It's unclear if this deal really was that close to happening, although let's just irresponsibly guess that the mystery team was the San Francisco 49ers.
