A bit too early. I didn't count the numbers, but I have a tough time believing there is room for both Tweedy and Mundy. I doubt we carry 6 safeties.

It all started with the release of the coke machine in Brandon Jacobs.

What's notable to me is guys on the fringe of the roster. There's clearly going to be a camp competition at Defensive Tackle. With Hankins a 2nd Rounder, he's assured a roster spot behind Linval Joseph on the nose. Very similar to the way Linval was coming in a year prior to Barry Coefield being a Free Agent.

The 3 Way competition is between Shaun Rogers, Mike Patterson & former 2nd Round pick Marvin Austin. If Rogers can prove he's healthy, the question is does JR want to commit 5 roster spots to Defensive Tackle?

I see virtually 0 chance Markus Kuhn makes the final 53. Staff lost faith in him during 2012. Inability to hold up the POA.

The lack of depth is apparent at Linebacker. Hoping young guys can step up. I don't put a lot of faith in Herzlich, though he'll make the 53.

^^I think Sabino makes the final 53 roster over Paysinger and could have an even bigger impact than JWill did his rookie year.

LB is theoretically the toughest position to pick who makes it for sure. At least the others you can fill in most of the spots with sure things.

Looking at just LBs

Connor- the leading canidate at MLB and decent two-down thumper. On a vet min contract. Hard to see someone overtaking him unless we sign another vet.

Rivers- leading canidate at OLB and plays well when on the field. Is often injured and, therefore, unreliable. On a vet min contract. Would be best suited as backup.

Curry- likely canidate for OLB and an athletic run-stopper. Knees are a main reason he busted in Seattle and Oakland. On a vet min contract. Time away from the game last year may give keep him healthy and struggles in Seattle and Oakland may make him hungry. Could be our best LB or not even on the roster.

JWill- likely canidate for OLB and is young AND athletic. Has made some key plays in limited time. Has nickle LB experience. Experience on special teams, played a lot at SLB, taking over for Kiwi in situations, but best suited for WLB. Shoo-in to make roster, but does he have the bulk to play full-time?

Herzalich- Likley backup and limited two down thumper. Can backup at MLB and SLB. Knows the system. Seems like a young Chase Blackburn who sticks around because the coaches trust him because he knows the system and willing ST.

Paysinger- Is listed as backup LB, but sees limited snaps on defensive and is a core ST. ST captain type who earns his keep doing that. Likely to make roster unless a young guy steals his ST spoy.

Sabino- Seems likely to get a good chance to see what he can do at SLB. Talented, raw LB, limited playing time at Ohio St due to LB depth, undrafted FA. Roster position this year depends on whether the GMEN can sneak him through waivers, training camp development, and ST prowess. More of a 2014 guy. Likely to end up on IR for "redshirting" purposes or the Giants coyld pay him full rookie salary to preserve his spot on practice squad, ala Ron Leary and the Cowboys last year.

Muasau- Pretty much a camp body, but with this year's group, who knows.

Guys who are canidates for as the 3rd Safety/ SLB hybrid role. Could bump another LB off the roster.

Cooper Taylor- TC has mentioned Taylor for the time in the third safety role. Played S in college, but size could make him a fit at NFL LB if he fills out. Played lower ompetition in most of college, so NFL speed could require transition time. Was reported to have stood out in rookie minicamp. Too talented to risk losing in waivers, could be a gameday inactive who contributes after the bye week.

Ryan Mundy- Backup safety who could see time in third safety packages.

Will Hill- Backup safety who could see time in third safety packages.

Alonzo Tweedy- very undersized college LB, undrafted FA. Backup safety who could see time in third safety packages, but main role would be ST this year. Could jump Paysinger for ST role.

Wildcards

DaMonster Moore- was worked out as in Kiwi's old Elephant SLB position as he lacks bulk and strength at POA this year. Was alternated in minicamp between SLB and more natural DE. Will make the team, but could contribute at SLB in addition to nickle DE.

I was going to have Marcus Davis on my final 53 as well. But, he's already been cut. Laughing

Also don't think we can stash Brandon Mosley on the practice squad. He was a fourth round pick, right?

Davis looked like Ramses Barden. A looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane type.

Mosley is ineligible for practice squad, but could be kept as a gameday inactive is thats where you think he'll be this year.

Also, Couple small transactions from rookie minicamp. Not many surprises, but Palmer could replace Bear like in STH's 53.

Dropped:
WR- Marcus Davis
TE- Chase Clement
OL- Levy Adcock
DL- Bobby Skinner
LB- Charles Dieuseul
DB- Buddy Jackson
K- Jake Rogers

Officially Added:
RB- Jeremy Wright
WR- Jeremy Horne- vet
TE- Michael Palmer- vet
DL- Frank Okam- vet
LB- Etienne Sabino
DB- Charles James
DB- Alonzo Tweedy
DB- Junior Mertile
DB- John Stevenson

Wright could be an outside option for a 3rd or 4th RB, has good versatility.
