Quote:
Minneapolis, MN (May 13, 2013) - The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA), the Minnesota Vikings and HKS Sports & Entertainment Group together unveiled the design of the State’s new multi-purpose stadium Monday evening in Minneapolis, a major milestone in getting the $975 million stadium built on time and on budget. The design package will now be submitted to the Minneapolis Stadium Implementation Committee and the City of Minneapolis for review.

Described as an authentic structure influenced by its Minnesota location, the new stadium exhibits a bold, progressive design that combines efficient functionality with stunning architecture. With a soaring prow, the largest transparent roof in the world, and operable doors that open to the downtown skyline, the facility’s openness and sleek geometric exterior will make it unlike any other stadium in the country.

"The design reflects the true story of the Minnesota community with its international style driven by climatic response and energy conservation,” said Bryan Trubey, design principal, HKS Sports & Entertainment Group. "The interior volume makes it the most versatile, multi-use building in the country with the most advanced digital age technology.”

-It will feature 2 12,000 square foot video screens (each is a tad bigger than 1 of the sides of the screen in Dallas).
-It will connect to the current "skyway" system in Minneapolis which basically means you can walk anywhere in downtown Minneapolis and to the Stadium without going outside!
-1.6 million square feet. Will seat 65,000, expandable to 73,000 for Super Bowl.
-125 Suites, 7500 club seats. Seven levels, access points on all four sides.
- Largest clear ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) roof in the world. Over 1200 HD flat screens throughout concourse.

Looks really nice. I like the giant revolving glass doors.

I knew it wasn't a possibility, but I wanted them to build an outdoor stadium.

I bet that thing could pass as an alien base if someone threw it in a movie trailer.

Looks cool, but it's going to hold baseball games as well?

Yep. Seems we have a good streak going...

First, Target Field was built and it turned into one of the best stadiums for baseball and now we have this design for the Vikings...If everything goes as planned I can't see this not easily being a top 5 stadium in the NFL. I love the design of it.

Just thinking about seeing downtown Minneapolis during a blizzard, or after a snowstorm, while playing in this stadium gives me the tingles.

They'll be playing two season outside at TCF stadium while it's getting built.

Those two years and first of the new stadium are going to be really fun.

This thing is going to look beautiful during a snow storm. Definitely prefer the open glass roof apposed to a semi-retractible roof and all the shadows that come with it.

As a proud resident of downtown Mineeapolis I cannot wait for this thing to be built. I will miss the metrodome, but this stadium is going to be incredible. Not to mention a few seasons at 'The Bank' where my gopher's play... If it's a futuristic football version of Target Field it will change the way stadiums are built from now on

Think of the SUPER BOWL in a blizzard in that stadium...

I want a college bowl game, wrestlemania, and everything else for this stadium

Heck, I might even put in an application to be a beer guy just to get close to this modern marvel
