3 of 4 against the previously 12-2 Braves!!!

Sweeping the Reds, splitting the two game series with the Cards (and up 4-2 before the third game was cancelled) and 3 out of 4 vs dem Braves.

Helluva home stand.

Good outing last night by Locke. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Anyone know when Karstens and Liriano get back?

Dammit, between the NFL Draft and the Penguins' radiant awesomeness, I've neglected the Pirates. Embarassed

Here's hoping they end the nastiest streak in North American professional sports history at 20.

Wife and I went to the game tonight. Had Lexus Club seats. What better way to pamper the wife for our anniversary?

Also managed to grab a foul ball that McKenry hit in the bottom of the 8th inning. Cool

Lucky. I've probably been to a hundred of games and never came close....

And happy anniversary!

Thanks. We sat right behind home plate on the start of the upper deck. I can't lie; the ball was literally hit right at me.

My wife and I took our son to the game on Saturday; Marte tossed me a used ball after they were done practicing it in-between innings Cool

Another solid outing from Locke. 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 ERs. Even if it's the AAAstros, I'll take it.

His 4-1 2.73 ERA has been stellar, but the command issues (1.45 SO/BB) are bound to catch up to him sooner or later.

Liriano has been great in the early going.

2-0 1.64 ERA 16 K's

5.2 6 Hs, 1 ER, 7 Ks MIL
5.1 6 Hs, 1 ER, 9 Ks @NYM

Offseason acquisitions are looking solid from NH.. and from last years trade deadline too.

- Wandy and Gaby Sanchez have been upgrades.
- Aquiring Vin Mazzaro for nothing.
- Re-signing and promoting Grilli to closer.
- Quincy Lattimore for Jeanmar Gomez trade has worked out really well. (It looked like a push in January, but I'll take the MLB ready arm over the OF prospect)
- The Hanrahan deal has been completely one sided with Melancon performing and Stolmy Pimentel pitching very well early in AA ball right now. (At this point, he's an outside shot to be up in the big leagues by 14')
- Russel Martin has been the biggest diffence maker to this point (IMO). He's lights out better then Barajas/Fort in 12'.

Absolutely. Huntington has done so well piling up on arms. Seems like every year he makes a few moves that nobody sees much of anything in, but they end up being huge for us. Gomez being a good example of that.

I hated the trade for Gomez at first. I didn't want Lattimore moved. Seems to be working out thus far.

Also, if someone could let Hurdle know that we need Snider in the line-up daily; that'd be great.... Mad

I just can't be too confident yet. The Pirates always start out strong and then at the end they forget how to hit the ball or pitch strikes. I don't know how many more let downs my heart can take lol.

Never really saw how Lattimore could be a huge difference. His power never really came on like we wanted.

Plus LQ would be ariving to the MLB about the same time that Polanco/Bell are coming up. Plus we already have Cutch/Marte/Tabata signed long term. Still dont know how long Tabata lasts.

I agree with this. He showed some good power and plate patience earlier in the season before he was hurt. We need to find out if he can be a long/short term answer for RF.

On a Marte day off tonight.. LF Tabata, CF Cutch, RF Jones

Such a big hit too. The entire team hadn't hit anything until that inning. Garza shut us down.
