We've reached the boring part of the offseason with nothing much going on. I saw this a few months ago on the Jaags forum, and thought it could be a way to get some conversation going.

Here's the rules:
Quote:
**please read the instructions and information before you make your vote**

You guys should know the drill by now

But here are a few changes:

-If you vote, PLEASE in turn post in thread 1) Who you voted for 2) Who you would like to be added to the next poll

-Thread is open to discussion about anything pertaining to the rankings. You may respectfully disagree with someone's selection, but please do not "bash" or criticize someone for making a selection. I would like each selection to be made purely off of opinion, no pressure

-If you are a fan of another team just dropping by, feel free to submit a vote or join the discussion. Outside perspective is always welcome

-I will keep this going until we 1) Complete a 30 man roster 2) or interest drops off to the point where the process loses its function, in which cases the amount will be rounded off. At the end i would like to get this stickied as the official 2013 Falcons player rankings

1. Cam Newton
2.
3.
4.
5.

Had to go with "Big Money" with this pick, I believe CJ is one of the best in the league.

Yeah, I'm still going Johnson here.

Cj has become one of the best DEs in the league right now and he;syoung and we got him locked up. However, next year this vote might be for kuechly esp with star in front of him now.

Very close between Johnson and Kuechly for me. Gave the nod to Johnson because he causes disruptions on defense that allow Kuechly to do his job.

I voted Kalil. I still think CJ is a little over rated.

CJ is underrated by the common fan. Many people aren't even aware of who is, something that is rare for an elite DE.

CJ would get the nod here but getting older. I'd have to go with Keek because of his impact as a rookie. Didn't start until week 5 or 6 and still had over 100 tackles. Dude is a tackling machine

Yeah the common fan doesn't know a whole lot about him but I don't think they matter a whole lot. I feel a Matt Hasselbeck effect going on with CJ. We try to give him so much credit since we don't feel people give him enough and in doing so we end up over rating him. I have a hard time calling him elite.

Johnson. He's the workhorse and playmaker on the defense at this point. The next players for me are on the list already.

If Cam is #1 than Johnson has to be #2. IMO he's the most integral player on the defense. His presence allows more freedom for the LBs. You could argue Hardy. However, he's not on the same level Johnson so that's a moot point. Either Keuchly or Hardy gotta be #3.

The common fan has no idea who Ryan Kalil is.

And pretty much everyone who isn't a common fan thinks CJ is elite.

I voted for smitty, but have no problem with Johnson being number 2. Smitty should be next without a doubt

Am I missing something on this common fan stuff? Why do we keep talking about their opinion like it matters?

I think it's a lot closer with "everyone who isn't a common fan" than you guys are making it out to be. I've seen folks around here calling him less than elite.

I'm not saying he's not very good, I'm just saying I cant quite call him elite.
