Even Robinson has a far bit of physicality for his size.

Ah, man. I remember that. Most bogus flag ever.

I believe that was the same game Smith destroyed CJ in the endzone to prevent a touchdown.

Xavier Rhodes was the first CB drafted by the Vikings in the 1st round since

I have a gut feeling that Rhodes will be the guy most often covering the other team's #1s, not Cook.

Agree, but maybe not until later in the year, or next year.

There are so many things for a DB to learn about the D, the opponents O, and individual WRs, that will take some time for him to grasp. But I won't mind if he is a faster learner than most rookie DBs. Smile

I hear you! To me so little of what we do is man coverage that Rhodes will be starting and playing right away and it won't be about matchups but scheme. His talent will be on the field. He is more talented than Cook was and cleaner too. Great pickup.

I just think that Cook has been so unreliable early on in his career. It bugs me that only playing in 10 games last year shattered a career high. I like him as a player when he does play, but hate relying on him to be our #1 corner because of his unreliability.

Chris Cook knows exactly what he'll tell Xavier Rhodes if the rookie asks for advice about handling the big, talented receivers the Minnesota Vikings face twice a year in the NFC North Division.

"Just let me handle them," Cook said this past week in an interview on 1500 ESPN.

Cook laughed after he said it, but he wasn't entirely joking.

Though he has struggled to stay on the field in his three NFL seasons, Cook has rare physical traits (6-foot-2, 212 pounds, 32-inch arms) for the position and has had some of his brightest moments against the likes of Detroit star Calvin Johnson.

Now, entering the last year of his rookie contract at age 26, Cook knows the value of his next deal will depend on whether he stays healthy -- and whether he can consistently make an impact against opponents' top receivers.

"I'm looking forward to coming back if that's in the cards, and I definitely would love to stay here," Cook said. "It's a contract year, but I'm not playing for a contract. I'm just playing for a good year and playing for this team."

There is no denying that when Cook is on the field, the secondary is much better as a unit. If Rhodes can develop at LCB and Cook at RCB, that is potentially a very good duo of young CBs on the outside. I like the upside with this group, i dont think MN has had this much young natural talent at the CB position in a long time. Time will tell if they can live up to there potential, but you have to love the direction at the very least. Cook is probably best suited to play RCB, so if Rhodes can really stabilize the LCB spot , that would be ideal.

Just saw that now. But why would you post it there, it was about Rhodes/Cook, not Winfield... Laughing

I could see why Cook might be better suited at RCB and Rhodes LCB, but then I have to wonder...

Who's going to cover the smaller WRs we face this year, like Steve Smith, Victor Cruz, Antonio Brown, Miles Austin etc...?

Cook doesn't seem like a good fit against any of them :/
