I suspect his versatility is going the be the key to getting him on the field. I could see Belichick using Collins standing up a lot in 3-3-5 formations, mixing in some blitzes to Collins's coverage responsibilities.

I don't think we'll see him playing DE as much as some are hoping. It depends on how much strength he shows and whether or not he's able to develop his pass rush moves. Right now he relies too much on pure athleticism to beat OT's.

Man...all that awesome stuff Rich said about him having a ceiling of a really good pass rusher....is now gone...

Ahh Strength in the NFL will not be a factor for Collins. His athleticism is good enough to just be somewhat productive.

Not true. Von Miller doesn't play DE but he's a factor in the pass rush. Right now the guy needs to learn how to use his athleticism to rush the passer. No need to send him after the QB that much at this point when he can do things he's comfortable doing like play some LB. When he's ready to be "unleashed' he'll get all the rushing snaps opposite Chandler Jones.

Guys like Kam Wimbley get 10 sack seasons in the NFL... Collins is good enough without learning anything to be a speed rusher. For him to be something more (which he has in him) he needs to be developed, thats all.

***Update***
Quote:
Collins will start his work at linebacker. The teamís top draft choice, Jamie Collins, will begin his work at the linebacker position. Collins has versatility from having played off the line as a linebacker and on the line as a defensive end, so there was some question as to where he might fit in the teamís 4-3 scheme Ė linebacker or end.

He doesn't matter where he lines up, he will be rushing the passer primarily IMO. He will see snaps all over the front seven in all likelihood.

Certainly an intriguing possibility with him lining up as an elephant next to Chandler

I believe it's an old old wooden ship, used in the civil war.

Collins is a little lighter than the prototypical elephant.

He has a frame to add about 10-15 lbs.
