Looks like Al could of possibly made the same pick as Reggie.

Not with the trade back, which is a significant difference.
Not only that, but we wouldn't be looking at a 10 man draft class either. Nor a promising UDFA class..

I actually like the way Reggie drafts (for the most part). Some say that Al would draft the same guys. And while that may be true to an extent, there is a fundamental difference in the way Reggie drafts (aside from Al hating to trade down).

Al drafted players that were physical specimens but were seriously flawed in some way and were not polished. Even when Al would draft a "safe pick", there were still flaws in that player (Gallery has short arms and lacks functional strength to be a LT IMO. McClain has slow feet and character concerns). In depth scouting would have shed light on those flaws. Once Al saw what he felt he needed to see in a player, his mind was made up.

Reggie likes physical specimen, too. But that player is scouted, primarily, based on performance. Each player Reggie drafted has a level of polish that can help a team . Also, no player has glaring flaws or is so raw that they would have no chance to play right away. Watson is the most raw player Reggie drafted and he (Watson) is still capable of playing if needed.

It's true. McKenzie's scouting would have undone McClain, Russell, Huff, DHB, and a littany of other mistakes.

Al would have surely picked: Cornelius Washington DE 6-4 265lbs Georgia

40 time: 4.6
Vert: 39"
Bench: 36 reps

I wanted him in the sixth round, Al would have picked him in the third.

Our first pick may have been exactly the same as it is now.

Only there would probably have been no 2nd since he never really traded down in the 1st much.
