I know he isn't fast but he seems to play faster compared to his 40

He gets enough separation. Solid hands but he runs good routes from games I've seen

Yeah, a bit.

I wouldnt call his athleticism a weakness really. Hes pretty solid there.

He just isnt gonna get behind any LB's in coverage.

I love that Alabama used him at H-Back.

Id like to do some max-protections with him in that role taking some calculated deep shots.

How good is his release and how reliable are his hands?

From what I've read he sounds like just about everything you could ask for out of a late round pick. He's a guy that should be able to fill in and be solid depth on the Lions roster, and that's something they haven't been able to find late in the draft in recent memory... depth. You have to build from within, and the more picks that can make the team and contribute, even in small ways (blocking as a TE), the better.

Like the pick. If he even makes one productive play he'd be better than the last Michael Williams we drafted.
