I am sure if his age and or birth certificate was a big issue it would have surfaced by now. If all else fails we could get donald trump on the case. Laughing

I don't believe Ziggy's age on his birth certificate. He has wrinkles. I'd not be surprised if he is every bit of 30 years old. Yes, a copy of his birth certificate was produced....a month after people asked for it. That is a huge red flag. He's very raw, unpolished, and unknown. IMO, the Browns can't afford to roll the dice with the sixth pick. Ansah is whom I want least with the sixth pick out of who is available.

Ansah's birth certificate was submitted years ago when he simply wanted to be a student a BYU. At that point he didn't know anything about the NFL or have the thought to play football.

Unless you think failing to walk on the basketball team (twice) and joining the track team before trying football was just to throw everyone off his scent. Rolling Eyes

There is no birth certificate for this guy. Only a passport issued in 2008 by a country notorious for age fraud (see Adu, Freddy).

Ok, that's the 'how'.

Now give me the 'why'.

When he came over he'd never played a down of football. And was good enough at basketball to be cut twice...by BYU. Freddie Adu was playing pro soccer at 17. Not exactly comparable.

Or are you saying that fraudulently identified his age just for chits and giggles?

Adu is exactly comparable. Adu arrived in the US at age "8." At that point he had only informal experience playing soccer on playgrounds. His family lowered his age (and probably their own ages as well) to confer a wide range of benefits that come with appearing to be more mature than one's peers.

The fact that Ansah came to the US specifically to compete in athletics tells us that he had even more incentive to lower his age than Adu. That he wasn't good enough was beside the point. (Or perhaps BYU coaches recognized he was older than he said he was and didn't want to devote resources to a player that was already behind the developmental curve).

Also the younger age makes him more attractive for academic admissions and scholarships.

Sounds like a great story.

So far every report and document, literally every one, indicates that he is what he is portraying himself to be.

Adu was a soccer savant at 8, hence the motivation to deceive. Ansah was a big, athletic dude who excelled at nothing athletically, at least in the scope we are speaking of.

I think it's kinda funny that a lot of the national pundits are loving the Ansah pick because of his upside and potential but seem to think the Mingo pick is average at best.

Ansah is a freak, no doubt, but Mingo is every bit the athlete and has proven to be better at actually playing football.

No to mention he's younger and also fairly green as well.

I guess I just find it funny that Mingo's lack of production is 'concerning' but Ansah's is overlooked because he's 'raw'.

I thought ansah was a second round pick or late first at best.

Good for the lions, they got a physically gifted athlete who has only basic knowledge of the game and little technique, and whose very limited production came in a third teir conference.

So happy the browns didn't draft him...

I thought it went in the correct order

1. Jordan
2. Ansah
3. Mingo

I think we got the third best of the 3. Time will tell

Two of my friends are huge lions fans , one loved him, one hated him.... We will see... I don't like it for them I thought they should try and trade up for a tackle, all this talk of ziggy in the wide 9, I hope we run power & counter at him all game next year- and then dive right up the gut with suh and fairley both running up field .... I just don't see ziggy adding any wins to the lions IMO.
