Any suggestions for final 7 spots? If not, any excess positions will be left open for potential veteran signings.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Trade Information

Trades

Quote:
Arizona Cardinals receive:

OL Jason Spitz

Jacksonville Jaguars receive:

Pick #174 (Pick used on Kyle Juszczyk, FB/TE, Harvard)

Quote:
Oakland Raiders receive:

DE Jeremy Mincey
QB Chad Henne

Jacksonville Jaguars receive:

Pick #154 (Pick used on Sanders Commings, DB, Georgia)
2014 7th (becomes a 6th if Chad Henne starts 8 games)

Explanation: Jason Spitz has been injured the entire time he has been here, so being able to get a 6th for him was absolutely outstanding for us. With Gabbert and now Geno on the roster, Henne was expendable. We also were not completely sold on Mincey's fit in our new defensive scheme. Both also have considerable cap hits. Moving them now for additional selections as we continue to rebuild was in our best interest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 FFMD V.2 Draft

Round 1 (Pick #2 but really #1): Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
Round 2 (Pick #33): Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State
Round 3 (Pick #64): Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State
Round 4 (Pick #98 ): Zaviar Gooden, LB/SS, Missouri
Round 5 (Pick #135): Jordan Mills, OT, Louisiana Tech
Round 5 (Pick #154): Sanders Commings, DB, Georgia
Round 6 (Pick #169): Zac Stacy, RB, Vanderbilt
Round 6 (Pick #174): Kyle Juszczyk, FB/TE, Harvard
Round 7 (Pick #208): Cory Grissom, DT, South Florida

Explanation: Every team needs their franchise QB. We weren't sold on Gabbert being our guy, but we believe Geno compares well to Matt Ryan. We weren't going to make the same mistake as the Dolphins and Rams. We picked the Mississippi State tandem as we see both as fringe first round guys and we had a huge need at cornerback - prior to selecting them, our top four cornerbacks were Mike Harris (a NB), Alan Ball, Kevin Rutland, and Antwuan Molden. Yikes. Zaviar Gooden brings a lot of needed speed to our defense and he can immediately step in as a defensive leader after the loss of Daryl Smith. As well, we can use him as a SS in some packages as he is a former S and at least I believe he has the skillset to be able to play that LB/S tweener role that Bradley likes. Commings gives us more competition at CB and he fits Bradley's CB mold almost perfectly. If he fails there, we can also try him at S. We go from Ball, Rutland, Harris, and Molden to Banks, Slay, Harris, and Commings as our top four safeties. Rutland himself isn't bad depth either. Zac Stacy helps our depth at RB as it should give us a solid trio with MJD, Justin Forsett, and him - Stacy also has potential as a strong contributor in the future which is important as MJD is not getting any younger. Kyle Juszczyk provides a replacement for Greg Jones and gives us two versatile fullbacks. Montell Owens is a ST Ace, FB, and RB and Juszczyk can be used at FB and at TE. He gives us someone who can contribute blocking and receiving which is important for the FBs of today. Honestly, it may seem odd, but I am extremely excited about this selection as it can give us a lot of room to be creative. Cory Grissom should end up making the roster as our backup 3T and he has the ability to play 3T, 0T, 1T, and 5T in Bradley's scheme. I'm not sure if D'Anthony Smith even exists.

Jacksonville Jaguars UDFAs

1. Ray Ray Armstrong, SS, Alcatraz - Jaguar
2. Joe Vellano, DE, Maryland - Jaguar
3. T.J. Moe, WR, Missouri - Jaguar
4. Sam Schwartzstein, C, Stanford - Jaguar
5. Larry Black Jr., DT, Indiana - Jaguar
6. Ohrian Johnson, SS, Ohio State - Jaguar
7. Caleb Schreibeis, LEO, Montana State - Jaguar
8. Joe Gaglione, DE, Iowa - Jaguar
9. Jeff Tuel, QB, Washington State - Jaguar
10. Brandon Ford, TE, Clemson - Jaguar
11. Dexter McCoil, SS, Tulsa - Jaguar
12. Robbie Rouse, RB, Fresno State - Jaguar
13. Nathan Stanley, QB Southestern Louisiana - Jaguar
14. Shaq Wilson, WLB/SS, South Carolina - Jaguar
15. MarQueis Gray, TE, Minnesota - Jaguar
16. LaAdrian Waddle, OT, Texas Tech - Jaguar

Note: 7 spots left available for veteran competition

Explanation: THEY'RE UDFAs. DEPTH AND COMPETITION. WE SUCK. THEY CAN ACTUALLY HELP US. RAY RAY STAY THE FLUX OUT OF TROUBLE AND YOU COULD BE A STARTER BRO. Everyone on this list has a legitimate shot at making the roster as a backup (or possibly even starter)... though it'll be kind of hard for Rouse House & Shaq but hey, we suck, we ain't picky. Stash what ain't trash. Jam your toe? IR. See you in 2014.

Note: This is the base I am using for the DL. As we all know, we'll probably see a lot of moving around - ie: Tyson Alualu at 5T DE/3T DT, Lane everywhere

CB: Johnthan Banks, Sanders Commings, Kevin Rutland

LS: Glenn Jacobs
K: Josh Scobee
P: Bryan Anger

EXPLANATIONS:

QB - Added starter competition (in our opinion, a starter, obvs) in Geno, bettered depth as Gabbert will be backup, and brought in Tuel vs Stanley as two project UDFAs to compete to be 3rd QB or PS developmental QB

RB - Added RB depth and project RBs in Stacy and Rouse

FB - Added new starter who is versatile on offense in the Harvard FB who has a hard name to spell

WR - Added a project slot WR in Moe. Didn't need to do much here with a young foursome of Shorts, B14ckmon, Shipley, and MOMASS.

TE - Added a couple people in UDFA to compete to be backup TEs. Also have the Harvard FB as a TE option.

OL - Added a starting ZBS RT in Jordan Mills. Bettered depth by moving Cameron Bradfield to the swing OT where he belongs. Brought in Waddle because his name is funny and awesome for a big, fat lineman. Just being honest. Hopefully he's good. Brought in Schwartzstein to compete inside. Great ZBS fit, very smart.

DL - Added competition and developmental guys to each position. Cory Grissom is a guy we have a mid-round grade on and he is versatile on the DL. Should replace the oft-injured and possibly fictional D'Anthony Smith. We're high on UDFA Joe Vellano and he should fit well at DE behind Alualu and Lane. Gaglione also a productive player and Iowa has a history of producting solid, hard-working, players especially at interior defensive line positions. Larry Black Jr. is a guy who fits well at the NT position and can push Pendleton and Long. Caleb Schreibeis isn't well known, but he's an athletic fit at the LEO position and if brought in here, he could be an undrafted sleeper. He's a roster/PS/stash option.

LB - Added a starter in Zaviar Gooden and brought in Shaq to compete as depth. Geno and Russell Allen will compete to be the other LB starter. It was essential that we leave with at least one starting LB from this draft and we succeeded by nabbing a very good, athletic one.

DB - Before we went to work, it was worse than the H... eh, shouldn't go there. As aforementioned, we went from Ball, Rutland, Harris (NB), and Molden as our top 4 CBs to Banks, Slay, Harris, and Commings with Rutland as the #5 guy so we drastically improved there. We weren't able to bring in a starting SS, but with a team as bad as this, not all positions can be fixed in one draft. What we did was make sure we brought in a lot of competition. First off, Gooden can play that LB/S tweener role in some formations. Beyond that though, we'll have a huge competition with Ball, Blake, Prosinski (also the backup FS), and the numerous UDFAs that we brought in (Commings could also work some at SS). Ray Ray Armstrong is interesting as he probably would have been a highish pick if he had stayed out of trouble. We'll see if Bradley & company can whip him into shape.

Overview: Superb Owl within next 5 years yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
