We have about 9 mil in cap space atm

Before rookies, so really say $5

Albert could be done, isnt that hard

Question is do we really want to do it, and how much to do it?

I'd rather pass on someones left over converted LT who isn't really that good. Screw paying him, screw the compensation. Build through the draft get some youth.

His pass protection is above anyone on our roster, but his run grading ranking is about the same.

That being said, I too would rather build in the draft.

I can't stand the idea of this trade - we're rebuilding and trying to get ahead. We still have some lousy contracts that are going to create dead money either this year or next - why take on a guy like this and the money he wants when we don't know if we're even going to contend this year.

This is the type of move I think you make when you're an LT away from winning the super-bowl - we were 5-11 last year, we need more young guys for our future core, including that 2nd rounder. Plus we need future cap flexibility. Go look at what the niners are paying for their line - and look at all the front-loaded contracts. They are ahead of the game and benefiting from it - doing stuff like this we'll be playing catch-up and living with future dead money.

Example - Joe Staley - took at $14M cap hit on him in 2009, $6M in 2010 - now while they're making their championship push he's 2.8M in 2013, 3.4M in 2014, and 5.2M in 2015. That's for arguably one of the best LT's in the entire league!

Please, for once can't we just get ahead of the cap curve and not be playing catch-up in a desperate attempt to compete immediately.

It only works if we can trade back from #7 and get back a 2nd pick.

Other than that it doesnt work.
