Two points here:

(1) This isn't a Belichickian draft. There are no trades. Twisted Evil

(2) On this point here:

That isn't quite true. The issue isn't whether or not BB likes a player, per se. The issue is whether he provides maximum utility to the team at that point.

As an example, in 2011 Nate Solder provided more potential benefit to the team, over the life of his rookie deal, than any player the Pats could have added at that position.

That's a whole lot of busts and generally poor NFL players. Some of those guys are (or were) stars. Most of them were outright bad pros.

Winning awards in college means nothing in relation to their NFL chances.
