OFFENSE:

QB Peyton Manning
RB Edgerrin James Anthony Davis Dominic Rhodes
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Brandon Stokley
WR Marvin Harrison
LT Tarik Glenn
LG Dylan Gandy (R)
C Jeff Saturday
RG Rob Hunt (R)
RT Ryan Diem Tupe Peko
TE Dallas Clark Ben Hartsock

DEFENSE

LE Raheem Brock Jonathon Welsh (R)
LT Montae Reagor Josh Thomas
RT Larry Tripplett Josh Thomas
RE Dwight Freeney Robert Mathis
LLB David Thornton Kendyll Pope
MLB Tyaun Hagler (R)
RLB Cato June Gilbert Gardner
LCB Marlin Jackson (R) Joseph Jefferson
RCB Kelvin Haydon (R) Jason David
SS Mike Doss Matt Giordano (R)
FS Bob Sanders Matt Giordano (R)

K Mike Vanderjack
P Dave Rayner (R)

Ok yes I believe that there could be a good chance that both Marlin Jackson and Kelvin Haydon could be starting at corner. Why??? Nick Harper is too slow and even though he has more experience I think they should still throw in the 2 physical rookie cornerbacks of Kelvin Haydon/Marlin Jackson. Also I think Jaon David should be are Nickel cornerback because he is are next best cornerback. As for starting the Rookies of Dyland Gandy/Robert Hunt I believe that there are next best Guards that we have and even though Robert Hunt is a Center Bill Polian said that they could play either G or C no problem so I figure keep Jeff Saturday where he is and throw in the rookie at Guard.

Wow 5 rookie starters
whats yall think???

on offense I disagree with:

both guards. Peko starts at one and Scott at the other IMO

on defense I disagree with:

Triplett has lost the starting job. whether to Josh Thomas or Raheem Brock or Sweet Pea, I dont know. I think Morris will be back starting at MLB and if not then Keyon Whiteside will get first shot IMO.

I think Marlin Jackson and Strickland start at CB with Harper as the nickel.

Hunter is still the punter and Rayner is around for kickoffs.

well it took me around 10 minutes to be wrong about the starters at guard. Peko was cut along with Anthony Floyd, reserve safety. Also they are working Strickland at CB in preseason so I might be alive with that guess, and NOT moving Mathis to LB which pleases me.

Come on Inkwell you could be right on your other suggestions because its anybody's guess about the OL, CB positions but really Larry Tripplett is are only DL that weights over 300lb's so I think you at least got to start him in the middle to be a run stuffer.

Heres my Defensive Rankings:

SS
#1 Bob Sanders - this guys amazing and is superstar in the making
#2 Mike Doss - good hitter and just has good instincts
#3 Matt Giordano - good fast hard hitter who could be another John Lynch
#4 Donald Strickland - Very versatile player who just a good role player

CB rankings
#1Marlin Jackson - just plain are best CB
#2Kelvin Haydon - more physical and athletic then others beside MJ
#3Jason David- too small to play CB but perfect fit for NICKEL
#4Joseph Jefferson - this guys got potential buts been hurt so much
#5Nick Harper - good role player but too small and too slow
#6 Von Hutchins - nice role player but nothing special

DT rankings
#1 Larry Tripplett- not as athletic as others but is a big body to fill middle
#2 Vincent Burns - ya ranked pretty high but think is next best DT
#3 Monte Reagor - pretty consistent player inside but nothing special
#4 Josh Williams - good role player but is no superstar
#5 Josh Thomas - good role player that gives his all every down

DE rankings
#1 Dwight Freeney - dont even have to explain here
#2 Robert Mathis - speed demon thats a great pass rusher
#3 Jonathon Welsh - speed demon 2 that will be a great backup
#4 Raheem Brock- good athletic player but not a good run blocker

OLB
#1 David Thornton - a solid player that can get alot better
#2 Kendyll Pope - are fastest LB who I think has alot of potential too
#3 Cato June - very athletic like all are LB's whose a good solid player
#4 Gilbert Gardener- hurt alot but could be are best LB maybe

ILB
#1 Tyaun Hagler - he is the most strongest athletic ILB we have
#2 Keyon Whiteside - pretty solid LB that again has potential like rest
#2 Rob Morris - nice size but too slow and just not very athletic
#3 Gary Bracket - good role player who is at his max potential now

I have seen conflicting reports on Strickland. one says CB and one says safety. Hopefully after minicamp this weekend we will get a clearer picture of his role.

I refuse to rank any of the rookies I have never seen play ahead of incumbent starters. You might have seen Kelvin play but I sure havent and so I am not about to rank him as high as you do. I dont see how he can be predicted as starter with his limited experience at the position, despite the weak set of characters he has to pass over to start opposite Marlin. He might end up there, but whether he does or not, I cant at this time predict him to start.

I dont think Dungy gives a flying *you know what* about any magic 300 pound threshold. Trips has played himself out of a starting job here. I would easily rank Reagor as our best DT while not disagreeing with your assessment that he is nothing special. The way we rotate D-linemen, starter is not really a significant designation. Trips will get playing time on run downs but I think he has been a major disappointment.

It appears Mathis will be playing LB, presumably strong side which might move Thornton back to weak side. I think Thornton is a fine starter but really nothing special. He made his rep on the weak side in one year. In the Colts system, the weakside LB is the star and should rack up the tackles. The fact that no one has stood out at this position since Thornton left it, is doubly incriminating because this position is tailor made to make stars in our scheme. I am skeptical of Mathis as a LB but will wait and see. We desperately need a step forward from one of the athletes we have listed as football players at the LB positions.

Larry Tripplett lost weight and is now down to 295 lbs. Reagor is our best DT and the other starting tackle spot is either going to be Brock, Williams, or Sweat Pea.

hey inkwell where did you here the Robert Mathis is playing LB?

Latest news I heard was that they wanted to keep Mathis where he was DE because they figured why break up a good thing and train him at LB when they know how much production they got out of him at DE.

Robert Mathis is staying at DE. There is an article about it at colts.com. I think it is better that way because he is a great pass rusher and a special teams player and I think they should keep him at that position. I made my own starting lineup so tell me what you think:

QB: Manning
HB: James
TE: Clark, Hartsock
WR: Harrison
WR: Wayne
WR: Stokely
RT: Deim
RG: Scott
C: Saturday
LG: Gandy
LT: Glenn

RE: Freeney
DT: Reagor
DT: Burns
LE: Brock
SAM: Thornton/Gardner
MIKE: Hagler/Brackett
WILL: June/Thornton
CB: Jackson
CB: Harper
NB: Hayden
SS: Doss
FS: Sanders

K: Vanderjagt
P: Smith

Not real sure about the linebackers right now so I just put in different cominations with the players on the current roster(Not Morris). I like Hagler over Brackett, but if Morris doesnt come back then Thornton and Gardner are also possiblities at MIKE, but I dought it.

they drafted two DEs. Will they LBs? DTs? deep on the depth chart? I am glad to hear they are leaving Mathis at DE.
