I know the espn comment boards are a joke, but I still love to go in there and seeing people declaring the death of the Packers because a third of our salary cap is going to two players. Always good for a laugh, if it doesn't infuriate me before then.

WOOOOO. Now I love the deal! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Very Happy

Yeah, I did not care about the amount half as much as I cared about how it was structured. That's a very cap friendly deal long term.

We are soooo fortunate. Thank God we have a GM who is looking out for the long term best interest of our beloved franchise. Very Happy

Love hearing fans of opposing teams laughing at this deal, saying it puts us in salary cap hell.

Matthews is worth every penny. Our defense was ridiculously better when he was on the field.

We have an elite player on both sides of the ball, with both still having upside. How many other teams can say that!

Bah! Let them laugh. I'd wager a lot of those clowns would LOVE it if Clay was playing for their team. If Perry can be the bookend we all hope he can be those fans won't be laughing very long. Cool

Let them laugh, let them underestimate us. The coaches won't. When we beat them, when we win the Owl, we can cheese, while they stay salty.

I like how they talk as if they wouldn't want their team to be in the same situation.

"Man, I wouldn't want my team to have the #1 QB in the league or one of the best pass rushers. I'd rather have big time cap room and a bunch of nobodies!"

Laughing

Say what you want about GB right now, but if we get a LT, a decent running back, and someone who can cover center field on the D, the Pack are going to compete for a championship.

Heck, we'll compete even if we don't

First of all the fans saying that are more than likely either Vikings, Lions or Bears fans, so consider the source. Second, perhaps Ted Thompson is having a "teaching moment" for all of us fans who want so badly for the Packers to win March. You see this is what can happen when you don't over spend for players other teams no longer want or can afford, or aren't worth affording for the money they demand. I am thrilled that exciting players like Clay Mathews and soon Aaron Rodgers will be there for us fans to watch and appreciate for many years to come.

Isn't that basically what he's making right now?

Per source, Matthews' cap number in 2013 is only $6.71M before rising as high as $15.2M in 2017. Per-game roster bonus in '14 through '18.

Backloaded.

"per game" insurance vs them hammies?
