Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that the Falcons are trying to trade up from their current first-round pick, which is No. 30 overall. King said he doesn’t know which player or players the Falcons are targeting, but they apparently like someone whom they expect to be off the board before No. 30 overall.

Wait, I thought nobody was going to want to trade up?

Reports coming out that the Packers also want to move up.

It's not that no one will want to trade up, but there aren't going to be as many that will be interested in trading up as usual.

As far as the Falcons, there could be a number of players that they are targeting. Maybe they want to get Xavier Rhodes or Desmond Trufant? Maybe Sheldon Richardson or Sylvester Williams? Maybe keep Jarvis Jones or Ogletree in Georgia?

As far as the Packers, who knows...maybe they'll want to move up to take one of the LBs that the Vikings' are targeting.

plus, the Falcons have recently shown their willingness to boldly go where no black birds have gone before, and trade up high to get their man. ex: Julio Jones.

they probably want to trade up higher than 23 or 25.

I would guess that it is unlikely that ATL makes a move. As you said, they made a big trade a few years ago for Jones but that move also cost them a few valuable picks. There roster is seriously lagging at a few spots like RT, TE (developmental), Pass Rusher, CB and they have been toying with a switch to a 3-4 so they need a NT to make a complete transition.

I don't think Atlanta wants to jump up as far as some have concluded around the web. I believe they just want to move up a few spots. Most likely ahead of us, Green Bay, and Indy in hopes of having their pick of CB, TE, or DE.
