I hope so. Seems like it would be a mighty stretch to promote Shoop after the whole Tom Walsh thing this season.

I read another article (sorry can't find the link) where it was said Al Davis may make a "non-Raider" choice when it comes to his HC position. It pointed out the mis-fires on Sean Payton (Saints) in 2004 and Petrino last year as coaches and stated Davis may make the move to get a coach of that caliber interested and may even pay to get a solid candidate. If that holds water I am a fan of Al taking a back seat and giving into letting a coach coach the team and not going the safe rout with a coach he knows he can control.

ESPN doesnt really follow The Raiders that well. They are just assuming with Al Davis' likes in coaches. My Guess is The Leading Candidate, and current Defensive Coordinator, Rob Ryan. The players on both sides respect him and actually have a relationship with him. He shows alot more intensity then Shell ever did and I doubt with what the offense did this year they will go to anyone from their staff who was involved.

I don't understand how anybody even remotely associated with our offense this year could be considered for a promotion. Pathetic. Either Rob Ryan or Dennis Green...other than those two I don't see anybody even remotely attractive....we had an interview request declined by San Diego's OC....embarrasing.
