Quote:
Beason said Tuesday that Kuechly “absolutely” deserves to be the starter in the middle. Interestingly, Beason said he would likely play the weak side, where Thomas Davis started the final 12 games last season.

Beason said Davis would shift to the strong side, which requires more drops into coverage in the Panthers' 4-3 scheme than the weak side, according to Beason.

I trust a healthy Davis more than a healthy Beason in pass coverage.

But as of right now I don't even know who would be better to fit the SAM role.

Never count out Doug Hogue.

Plus how could I forget we had the one and only Kenny Onatolu? No shortage of superstars here. Cool

Honestly I think i'd rather have Beason in coverage. Davis is far superior rushing the passer and is quite honestly a better tackler.

Davis played some SAM early in his career, didn't "break out" until he moved to weak though, so we'll see how this goes.

Didn't break out, but I think that's more of a function of the SAM being a less flashy position. The year before he switched and got known, he had a really good year at strong side. Made good plays and, more importantly, set up tackles for the MLB.

This was expected when Anderson was released. It's a very dynamic core, I'm curious to see what the nickle packages look like.

Great news. I would have been very unhappy if they moved Kook outside after what he showed.

I have always thought Beason was a solid MLB but was a better fit as a Will. So I am happy.

Let TD play middle. He would probably win MVP.

Not joking, Hogue could be one of the best LB depth players we've had in yrs. For those that didn't follow/see him play in college check him out.
