I understand that McClain has been a troubled immature young man since the Raiders made him a top 10 selection a few short years ago. McClain clearly needs an attitude adjustment and his time in Oakland was on a downward spiral from the start.

Reports now indicate that McClain expressed his concern and lack of interest of playing “so far from home” prior to the draft and was upset when the Raiders selected him anyway. While one cannot blame the Raiders for selecting McClain, it shows the disconnect this troubled young man had for this franchise before he even arrived in the bay area.

Those same report also state that McClain would like to once again land in a 34 defensive scheme where his talents can be best utilized and wants to be closer to his home, family and friends in Alabama. Given this request, it’s likely the top 3 teams that would interest McClain are the Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.

If the Saints were to take a chance on this young man, they would be adding an extremely talented long interior defender with his whole career ahead of him. In McClain’s rookie season he showed the NFL world just how big of an impact he can make on the football field and while David Hawthorne would be a decent starter, McClain would represent a clear upgrade at a value price if he was to work out in Nawlins.

So, what say you… do we get aggressive with this talented but troubled player or is it a “thanks but no thanks” situation with him?

I say yes... this would fill a need and allow us to concentrate elsewhere in the draft.

A better prospect than Ogletree...both are knuckleheads. The difference is that Ogletree would cost us a 1st rounder and McClain would be close to league minimum and little guaranteed money. Why not?

For the minimum I would say yes.

Call this hit legal, illegal, whatever. Please please please please bring him to NO. We've not had someone that could hit like this since the Dome Patrol.

Despite your opinion on the last one, this was perfectly legal. Sproles made a "football move", and McClain just lowered his shoulder into him.

We need a guy that can hit like this, even if we just bring him in to hit people. He could give our defense the swagger back that it hasn't seen in decades.

EDIT: Also, he was drafted during the Al Davis era. So we all know he's big, and he's fast. Cool
