He's been the Lions kicker 3 years longer than I have been alive. Truly sad to see him go, one of my favorite all time players and one I will always remember. I've forever seen #4 back kicking off and going for extra points and field goals. It'll be so sad and strange to see someone else doing that.

They should consider retiring his number.

Honestly, it was his time. He was no longer making kicks that he use to routinely hit.

This year his misses at GB (twice) and Houston proved costly.

Put number 4 in the rafters and lets get us a new Hanson... maybe one of those kickers that StL just got that can hit from 60+.

When did I become one of the older people on this board?

i was 14 when he got drafted.......anyways IMO, caleb sturgis in the 6th/quinn sharp or ryan allen on the 7th is just the ticket for this team. fix both positions at one stroke......

He may have been a kicker but a kicker is an important part of the team.

Hanson was special not only for his production and longevity but the fact he stayed in Detroit. I'm not certain many other players would've remained with the Lions given the lack of results and poor atmosphere.

Lions add Hanson to the ring of honor. Glad they didn't take long to do this.

Gotta use the green font for sarcasm.
