Is this good or bad?

The Bengals called it a "competitive situation" behind Andy Dalton, so he may be more than just a back-up.

It's neither. He'll compete with Josh Johnson for the backup role. Guess it's a good thing, there's competition between the backups to drive both of them...

Should see some Orlovsky vs Manziel this week in the battle of "who's less aware of their surroundings"

Orlovsky has too much experience here. Manziel doesn't stand a chance.

I love the move. Kid's got a cannon to lay out some bombs for AJ and co. I easily see him beating out Josh Johnson in camp. Preseason will be fun to watch.

Call me crazy but I think we draft a QB in the fifth/sixth round and have the QB (Landry Jones maybe) compete with Johnson and Skelton for that backup job. There's a reason we've been looking so hard at QB's this offseason.

Low risk, not much to complain about.

Good move. Probably no more of a downgrade than Gradkowski is to be honest. He at least has a good arm and experience. I feel better about him than I do Johnson or Robinson.

So let me get this straight.

The Raiders get Carson Palmer.

We get a 1st and a 2nd rounder, a potential NFL HC, and QB John Skelton.

Y'know, this Mike Brown guy may yet make a decent NFL GM..........

After further review, maybe not.

I like Skelton more than Johnson. This may preclude us from taking a mid round QB (unlss it's just tremendous value), but I can still see us taking a late round one to either compete and/or stuff on the practice squad.

Skelton was a big kid with a big arm coming from a very small school when he entered the NFL, he was very raw but very talented. He joined a team where QB's get killed every game because they have the worst O-line in the NFL. If he's not too beat up or battle shy (see #9 after Pittsburg playoff) from all the hits he could still be a good QB. I think he's a lot better then our backups the last couple of years, depending on how well he's survied Arizona! I think QB becomes a 3rd day pick in the draft if that, unless someone falls into our lap.

Bray is the only one i would want over the current backups we now have. The other quality guys will be long gone.
