Sign/Re-Sign

DE Lawrence Jackson
RG Brandon Moore
TE Will Heller

Draft

Trade
Chargers get #5 (Trade up for Eric Fisher)
Lions get #11, #45, #179, 2014 pick

Round 1, Pick #11: Xavier Rhodes, CB, FSU | 6'2 210 lbs 4.4 speed
[Rhodes, I feel, has the most potential to be a shutdown corner out of this corner class with his man coverage abilities and elite athleticism and size. Gives us a legit 1-2 pairing of Rhodes-Houston and a bigger corner to match up against the likes of Brandon Marshall.]

Round 2, Pick #36: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson | 6'1 215 lbs 4.5 speed
[Not a physical freak by any means but a sound all around receiver. Runs good routes and has above average hands. I think he's a perfect fit across CJ and for this offense.]

Round 2, Pick #45: Tank Carradine, DE, FSU | 6'4 275 lbs 4.75 speed
[Good all-around ability/potential but needs to fully develop some PR moves. I think Schwartz and co can get the best out of him - like they have with others - and playing next to our hogs in a "pin your ears back" mentality should only help him succeed.]

Round 3, Pick #65: Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia | 6'1 210 lbs 4.56 speed
[I think this guy has Pro Bowl potential but some red flags and depth of this safety class will drop him. A total play maker which is what we have really lacked for quite some time. He also gives us a viable option if Delmas were to go down again.]

Round 4, Pick #132: Montori Hughes, DT, Tennessee-Martin | 6'4 330 lbs 5.13 speed

Round 5, Pick #137: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina | 6'6 318 lbs 5.15 speed

Round 6, Pick #171: Ace Sanders, WR/RM, South Carolina | 5'7 173 lbs 4.53 speed

Round 6, Pick #179: Michael Buchanan, DE, Illinois | 6'6 255 lbs 4.7 speed

Round 7, Pick #211: Ray Graham, RB, Pittsburgh | 5-9 200 lbs 4.68 speed

Round 7, Pick #245: Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida | 5'10 188 lbs 4.77 speed

Pretty solid overall. Love the Rhodes and Carradine picks.

I'd really rather not trade down if Fisher or Joeckel manage to fall to us. They're about the only two guys in this draft that I actually want (not that I wouldn't be okay with a handful of other guys, but you know).

The picks are pretty much good though. I don't love drafting a receiver in the 2nd round again, but I'm prepared for it to happen.

The picks are solid, but not worth the trade down IMO.

I really like it.

The only picks I would change would be Graham and Buchanan, Graham because I dont think we need another RB, I'd prefer drafting a LB or interior OL. As for Buchanan, I just prefer other DE's.

I would have been all for Rambo before resigning delmas and signing quin i really think for us to be a contender our first 3-4 picks have to contribute.....Give me Justin Hunter, Robert Woods, or DaRick Rogers instead of hopkins and Gavin Escobar instead of rambo and id be Smile

Hunter is likely a 1st round selection.

So is Tank by the way, IMO. I'd rather have Trufant than Rhodes, personal preference. I like Rambo, but would prefer an interior OL like Warford or Frederick over Hopkins, despite landing Moore in F/A- we still need a center and depth behind Sims who may be a short timer here.

Yeah I've seen a lot of talk that Tank doesn't get out of the first round.
