I never was a fan, but it seemed like he was the consensus #1, what happened?
He was never the consensus. He was getting billed as the #1 the same way Gabbert got billed as being the #1 two years ago. He's still the #2 by most and probably doesn't make it out of the first 39 picks. And I wouldn't be surprised to see him go top 10 to a Arizona or another QB needy team that sees their top choice go off the board.

Pick 39. I see what you did there. Very Happy

I know you guys really like Geno, but do you think the Jags FO will likely feel the same way about him? I ask this because if he gets past the Jags, he might fall all the way to pick 9.

The entire camp went to his pro day, and apparently came away more impressed than they expected to possibly be.

Do you see any other players as legitimate possibilities with the second pick?

QB Geno Smith
LEO Barkevious Mingo
LEO/SLB Dion Jordan
LEO/5T Ezekiel Ansah
DL Star Lotulelei
DL Sharrif Floyd

I think those are the legitimate options at #2.

There are some outside options or potential surprise options, but they aren't legitimate for a few reasons.

The DTs worry simply because I just dont know if they can be the elite pass-rushers you would expect a #2 pick at DT to be

We all know I do not think Geno is a legitimate option, but putting the one aside, I do not know if I call Lotulelei all too legitimate a pick at this point. At this point, with Roy Miller in the fold, I do not see a massive need for the 1 technique spot, which is what I would classify Lotulelei as ideal to play. With the #2 pick, I think a pressing need best be addressed. That leaves a pass rusher, and Floyd or a LEO would provide that.

It's not a reflection of who I personally have evaluated as a legitimate selection at #2.

I don't think you can expect the sort of sack totals you can roll out as justification of a #2 pick, but i do think there's the potential there (especially with Star) to be the sort of disruptive presence that either allows others to get sacks, hurries the QB, or at least muddies the pocket to the point that it makes opposing QBs less effective. The kind of stuff that can force incompletions, checkdowns, and interceptions. And that's pretty valuable.

But i understand the concern.

Sheldon Richardson is my top DT in this class.

The question I have is whether or not the Jaguars are going to run the same scheme Bradley used in Seattle. Some coaches build their scheme to the strengths of their players, others are scheme specific - looking for guys who fit their vision. If Bradley wants to use that same scheme, I can't help but question which DE position is valued more: the 5-tech or the LEO?

They can go a number of directions.

They could consider moving Alualu to the 5, and draft Floyd (3-tech) to pair with Roy Miller (1-tech), and platoon Babin and Branch as the LEOs. That or just draft Floyd to play the 5.

They could draft a LEO, Mingo being the best fit in my opinion but Jordan another phenomenal prospect as well, but then there is uncertainty somewhere else on the line. That said, both Babin's and Branch are LEOs, so you have to wonder how committed they are to those players.

Another option would be to take Ziggy Ansah. He's someone I can see at either the LEO or the 5-tech, and he has the frame to get up to 285-290 which would be enough for him to play the 5 (see Quinto Coples). He's a freak athlete that is fast and can likely revolutize that position for Jacksonville.

Also remember that FA isn't over. If JAX signs Alan Branch, not an impact defender but definitely a solid starter, you have even more flexibility. I don't see Geno as a legitimate option at 2, but Jacksonville holds the keys to this draft. They can shake it up tremendously depending who they pick. Personally, I won't be surprised if they go with Ansah. He is a "blank slate" that Bradley can mold himself, he's the most versatile, and he's the has the best combination of size-speed-strength that any player has to offer in this draft. He's built like JPP and I think he can be a similarly impactful defender at the 5. If he doesn't translate to that spot as well as the team would like, move him back to the LEO where he can just pin his ears back and attack the QB. He's raw, but your looking at the long term. Where can he be 3-4 years from now? He would be my pick if I'm running the Jaguars, but then again I'm not the expert; the guys in the FO are
