Good move. Newman was quite good last season, surprisingly. May have another good year (hopefully two) left in him and can be a good mentor to Dre. Zimmer seems to get the most out of him.

He's the kind of veteran (along with Hall) that will be good for Dre to emulate, glad to have him back.

That's a fair deal but I'm surprised Adam Jones got so much less than Newman.

Agreed not to mention he's familiar with Zimmer and was pretty good for us last year. Gives us a ton of depth at CB in a pass first league and an insurance policy if Dre doesn't meet expectations.

Good deal. Happy to have him back. Doubt we go with a CB early this year

So at this point our needs look like:
1. SS
2. LB
3. 3rd down RB
4. WR
5. DE

BPA all the way

We're the only shop in town I think. Fat boy will want his guaranteed money, and i'm doubting anyone else gives it to him.

I was going to say the opposite. It's not like we're hearing that he's talking to other teams. I think he'll be back at this point. Unless of course the Bengals are giving him the cold shoulder. But judging by some comments from the coaches, it sounds like the agent is the one doing that.

As for the Newman signing. This is good news. He played well last year. Now the team has 4 corners they trust to put out there, and that's a good thing. It's hard to have too many competent corners. Now Kirkpatrick just needs to stay healthy.

I don't get Andre. He wanted LT money coming into the league and held out. How did that work out for him? He's had one good season since turning pro. What does he honestly expect?

I posted in the Andre thread about the problem being his agent. I get doing Jake Long first, wheich sets the ceiling. but for him to do Vollmer next and set the floor was assinine. It brings down the potential earning power of other players, and in this case, ONE OF HIS OWN. Stupidity comes in all sizes and shapes (pun intended)
