So, by all reports… The Saints want Nnamdi and Nnamdi is “torn” between New Orleans and San Francisco. It’s clear to see why he might be.

In San Francisco, Nnamdi would return to the Bay area where he spent the better part of his adult life and join a top 5 NFL defense where he would likely fill the role as the Niners third corner and in his (and most media) mind have a better chance at his first superbowl appearance (and playoffs for that matter). It’s likely Nnamdi would have to take less money in this decision but he’s already making 4 million from the Eagles in 2013 so depending on Nnamdi, that may not be an issue.

In New Orleans, Nnamdi would reunite with his former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan while in Oakland where Nnamdi excelled and was once considered one of if not the best corner in the sport. Much has been made about his failures in Philly and a lot has been blamed on the scheme for his poor production. Coming to New Orleans, Nnamdi would have a chance to dispel all those who believe that it wasn’t the scheme and was in fact Nnamdi himself who has lost it. With the Saints, Nnamdi would likely be looked at as a starter in Rob Ryan’s defense once again and the Saints new DC would lean on his new corner to help one of the league’s worst defenses in 2012. To simply put it, Nnamdi would likely have more pressure on his shoulders in New Orleans but the reward to him if he was to succeed would be greater.

So now we sit and wait for Nnamdi to make his decision…

Like Sean Payton said, “I’m real interested to see what his decision will be”. I think Sean was insinuating that his decision will likely determine where Nnamdi’s confidence level is right now. My question is, how long should the Saints wait?

It seems the Saints are clearly in a holding pattern in free agency while they wait on Nnamdi to make up his mind. We keep hearing about the Saints being interested in this guy and that guy but nothing is getting done. I understand that it’s a buyers’ market right now but any fool can see that with the Saints up against the cap and Nnamdi being there clear top priority right now that this organization is at a standstill until this guy makes up his mind.

Is that smart business?

Is Lewis, P-Rob, Greer & White really the weak links of this defense as it sits?

Is acquiring Nnamdi that important that it could potentially cost us to miss out on other free agents?

So I ask ya’ll… Should the Saints remain firm and wait, Give Nnamdi a deadline or just move on altogether?

What say you?

Wait it out. It's not like we need the money for someone else, Nnamdi could give us the best CB duo we've had since...ever?

So, your convinced that Nnamdi will return to his Pro Bowl form under Ryan?

I think Scrabble would be a lot better than he was with Philly. Pro Bowl quality? With all the great corners in the NFC, I think he'd have to return to his Raider form and I just don't see that happening. I think we're in pretty good shape at corner and should give Scrabble an April 15 deadline. That would give plenty of time to make another FA move as well as prepare for the draft.

But I'm not the DC am I?

No, I'm convinced he'd be atleast a good #2 though.

I say stand firm. Only other person we'd spend the money on is Butler, and if we cut a veteran we could probably afford both. It can't take too much longer

Giving him a deadline might as well be telling him to sign with 49ers. I don't know many players that would take kindly to being given a deadline.

Yes because man and zone coverage schemes are the same and the results will also be the same.

Like when he "burned" us for 4.5 catches, 60 yards and 0 TDs per game this season?
